Default New 217 cobia boat we just bought.

You all have no idea how excited my wife and I are right now. We just got back from the Miami Boat show and put our money on the new cobia 217. Fit and finish was excellent and Skip was more then helpful.

We opted for the new yamaha 200 inline 4 and ended up getting the electronics box on the console with a VHF installed. We also switched out the leaning post with the one they put in the patherfinder with the removable back rest for more room in the back. Very very excited you all and we can't wait to get it. The dealer as well as Skip from the manufacture was first class. Now for the wait but we plan on going up to see it being built at least one time during the process. There is more to the boat but I am tired and going to sleep soon. Lots of walking today. lol

Night everyone.

That 217 has a great layout. I will be interested to see how the new 200 performs. Should be perfect power for that hull, so please report back..

I had to go with the new 200 from yamaha, I think it is perfect as well. I will have numbers for everyone on this boat performance wise in time. They do have to make the boat so I have some time so hang in there. I have to say, I love the fact I added the pathfinders leaning post which is a little smaller with the removable back rest so I can either sit backwards look aft and also freeing up about another 6 inches in the back. Great idea from Skip on that one. Great access to the builge area as well. Very impressed with the boat and I can only see them going up and up in the future. I as on many boats and this one was our favorite.

Congrats your gonna love your new cobia. We did the same thing 12 years ago but went with the little sister boat and have loved it. The little 194 is a very well built and dry boat, i go way the hell out there knowing my buddies arent to far away, but knock on wood never had a single issue. Good luck with her and we will see you @ the sandbar....

What did they say the wait would be on it? Where is the factory located?

Congrats on your purchase. I hope you'll be as happy with your 217 as I am with my 237. I found the factory people to be great to deal with if you need a clight modification like the leaning post. I too was trying to a little more room in the cockpit and they built a leaning post based on my drawings that has no backrest.

I would have liked to have seen a 194, as it looks real good on Cobia's website but the local dealer does not have any, and told me they stopped production because they were bringing out a new model.

I'm in the same waiting game on a 216 tidewater but only 4 weeks or so.

Congrats -- we were very impressed with the new Cobia 217 at the fall boat show in Tampa also. Great layout, great access to below-decks, and first-rate build (sea cocks, etc. that are often only found on larger boats).

I agree 100%

I know this might sound silly but even the non skid was great.

It's ok, it gives me time to get the things I need and to visit outdoor world, west marine, capt. harrys and others weekly. lmao

Good tip, if you have a local ACE Hardware near that carries fishing and boating supply's it was MUCH cheaper than bass pro or westmarine for their stuff.
