Default Seven Marine on 38 Fountain sea trial-videos added

Just rode the 38 Fountain with twin 7's at the Miami Show......video coming later. Hooked up much better than last year, cruised around 40-60. Only took it to 60mph.....but at only 4200rpm's she had plenty left. The exhaust sound is now adjustable since people complained it was too quiet. So now the owner can adjust the exhaust baffles to be quiet or loud. Eric the VP of 7 Marine was very gracious and answered all questions. Said they only been at this for 3 years and have made great progress in the last year.

video added to this first post......gets up on plane from idle at around 1:55. More than 7 minutes of running time on iphone.....are the complainers still going to complain the motor doesnt exist or run?....of course they will.

Because 557 HP x 2 equals 1114 HP. The 38 Fountain usually comes with triple 300's or 350's which equals 900 HP or 1050 HP respectively.

The idea of such high HP engines is to be able to get the same or more power out of less engines. In other words, they make a triple engine boat a twin engine boat.

These engines are still a novelty though because 2 of them costs way way way more than triple 350's.

I would not, 7 marine is trying to prove that 2 will do the job of three, how would adding a third do this? I also think that unless the figure of $80 big ones that is being throw around, comes WAY down, this will never be more than a novelity act for a few. The day will come when the competetion brings a larger model to the fight, and I doubt it will be anywhere near 80.

the competition already has bigger engines available but the market isnt asking for them.....the big manufacturers are selling every 300-350HP engine they can make. But 7 has bigger horsepower versions in the pipeline too....competition is great.

I don't know if i buy that the market is not asking for them, Seems like almost every named manufacturer has/is bringing bigger outboard models to market. I believe it is just a matter of time, and not a long time, before we see something bigger from the big three. And I completely agree that competition is GREAT.

So, are there any 7's that have been sold and in use for any amount of time? That's what I'd like to know.

Me too.

Were they not also having issues with the linkage in the LU lasting more than a few hours?

Did that get addressed?

Who has one with more HP than 557? Or do you mean they have them bigger than 350HP, but are holding them back because they perceive there's not sufficient demand?

I'd bet the competition hasn't found a way to beef up the transmission and lowers unit to match higher horsepower. They may think that the investment needed to beef up EVERYTHING won't have enough return. That may be very likely, and bodes well for 7 Marine. If there's only enough market for one manufacturer to get R&D payback, 7's in a good place (assuming they can get to mass production).
