Johnson 150 fast idle not shutting down even after 10mins at idle, what gives? I have a year 2000 Johnson ocean pro v6 outboard. Prior to this year Ive never had this problem before. When I first start the outboard it goes into a fast idle or choke mode about 1200 rpms. When the motor warms up sufficiently it should shut off and idle at 7-900rpms. The only way I can get this "fast idle" mode to shut off is to put the motor into gear and idle up the channel. Then, after being in gear for a minute or two, she falls into a normal idle. I'm worried that 1. I could damage the newley replaced lower unit by putting it into gear at a higher rpm and 2. It runs (sputters)like hell until this fast idle shuts off.
Is there a connection I can lube?
Any feedback would be much appreciated.
