Default Fuel Consumption

I just purchased a 32 Donzi with 250efi's. The motors checked out great and I'm looking forward to our first trip. Any idea on what kind of fuel we can expect to burn? I've read a lot of good things about these motors and I know they are thirsty engines but I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect. We usually run 50 - 60 miles out to start trolling. Thanks for the help!

I had a 27 footer with twin 225HP V8's and I was getting about 1 nautical mile per gallon.

A friend had Yamaha 250s EFI on a 30ft Scarab. It got about 0.8 mpg at trolling and 1.2 mpg cruise (4200 rpm, approx 45 mph) and about 1mpg WOT.

Are you referring to Yamaha Saltwater Series II, OX66 engines?

Good rule of thumb for WOT fuel burn is HP/10 for a two-stroke like these. That would be about 25GPH at WOT - and I can tell you that is very close...

We have an OX66 250HP and burn 16-18GPH at cruise of 4200-4600RPM. Can easily push it to 20GPH at faster cruise. These are by Floscan.Your actual performance may be better or worse, depending on many factors.

Just guessing here but on a Donzi, they're probably mercs, should cruise at 1.0-1.4 mpg, troll 1.4-1.6 mpg, WOT, yikes less than 1 mpg. i run 2x225 merc EFIs, thats about what I get on a 28 ft WA cruiser. Your hull is probably a little more efficient and you have more HP.

These are mercs on this boat. I just sold a 27' Contender with the Yamaha motors and we would burn around 120 - 140 gallons on a full day of fishing. I'm guessing the mercs will burn a little more???

I have 250 Efi's on a 29, not as bad as everyone kept telling me. I will know exactly after this weekend. Installing Smartcraft monitors this week. They get real thirsty at full throttle, however at cruise rpm's not too bad.
