Replace Volvo Sterndrive question????

I am looking to replace my 1994 Volvo Penta 5.0 F.I. engine, but the 290 Duo prop outdrive is in perfect shape still. Can you get a new bobtail type engine that will work with the older outdrive? I want to go with a new Volvo 5.7 GI engine.
