im looking into possibly buying a 24 blackfin console/cuddy. the boat i believe wieghs 5500. has anyone every towed this boat? what type of trailer would you recommend?
Consider the additional weight of a full gas tank, along with other gear, and be sure to get a trailer rated to haul the loaded weight. And the trailer will likely weigh 1200#+-. Then check to see what your truck is rated to tow...
The New F150's can haul around 8800 lbs. I have towed my old 25' 7000 lb Chris Craft Tournament (Twin 350 inbords) and 26' Regulators. You should be ok. I was using an 8000 lb trailer that weighted 1700 lbs wiyh a total GVE of 9700.

You do know that F-150's come with 3 eingine packages, 2 V-8's and a V-6. When asking a question like this, try to be a little more informative. I mean you mentioned what type of boat, but failed to mention anything about the trailer (tandem or triple axle, brakes?) - the type of F-150 is more important since that is what you are concerned about, right???
Anyways, if you have the v-6, then not a chance. If you have the 4.6 V-8, that's better and OK for short trips, but the only one I would actually tow it with would be the 5.4 with OD off and you should have a 4x4 or at least a limited slip..

I installed air bags on my 1500 chevy to eliminate rear end sag,to pull my 228 Grady. The truck had a 305 ,and 373 rear .It did ok on flat ground, but squalked when pullin hills and merging onto the interstates.I have since moved to a 3/4 ton.
Re: can my f-150 tow this boat safely.24 blackfin/ albemarle 24
looks like i will stick with a 24 albemarle. the most i would be towing either boat would be 120 miles down to o.b.x.my truck has a 351 yes it is a 4x4 with limited slip. what ever trailer i get will have disc brakes. thanks for the comments guys.
I'm currently looking for a truck to tow my Parker 2520XL so i can share with you what I've learned so far....The 05 F150 4X2 Supercrew is rated to tow 9500#, 4x4-9200#. If you have a regular cab, 4x2-9900#, 4x4-9500#. As stated above, you will need a minimum of a 3.73 differential axle if you have the 4x2. If your rig fits this criteria, you should be fine with 5500#...just weigh your boat fully loaded to determine total weight(including trailer). I weighed mine today at a public scale and was off by 500#'s from my estimate. There are folks on the forum with far more knowledge than me so this is just my $0.02.

once again we bring up the topic of the engine... is it the 4.6, 5.4, v-10 or powerstoke diesel?

Seems he already has the truck. The specs for a new truck might not even apply to his setup. frankliekefet, Does your truck have a factory tow package and are you sure? What year is the truck?
There are too many unknowns in your question to answer it with any accuracy.
