Default Bluewater console door

The new Bluewater 2550 has a folding side door leading under the console. When pulling it home I taped it shut, now even in calm seas she won't stay closed. The folding feature allows the latch to disengage. Has anyone else had or solved this problem. Right now I have a velcro solution. It may be easier to solve if the door folded in instead of out,any ideas from the resident geniuses would be appreciated. Thanks.

Perhaps a simple barrel bolt mounted vertically.

Or maybe a latch on each half of the door? The barrel bolt might be the simplest, though.

the design was simply a compromise, to supposedly allow for "simpler" access, and keep one piece door from hitting inwhales..I don't favor the new design, and seems like it won't be as watertight when taking spray on the port bow...my buddy's new twin e-tec 2550 left the factory like that,on the delivery day, he requested the old one piece door be put on for the same reason....you should tell Paul, and maybe get him to ship you the one piece door? There is no advantage of the new design,IMO......

I had the one piece and had it changed since it hit the gunnel, and wouldn,t open fully.I could get Paul to ship me the one piece , and try them both.I like the better access of the 2 piece though,it is an area that will get a lot of use. Some type of latch over the seam on the outside should do it, then a strap and snap to hold it open.IMHO its something they should get right, the details make the difference.

As this is a new item, whatever you figure out, please share it with the rest of us. Bluewater gets a lot of their upgrade ideas from their customers.
