Default Getting ready for the season-Emergency Kit

I am putting together a emergency/repair kit.

This is what I have so far:

Bildge Pump
Bildge Pump switch
Spark plugs
Misc tools
Black Tape
Assorted connectors

Strickly repair items; what else would you add?

Extra hose....what if for some ungodly reason the bilge hose splits? Always good to carry enough extra hose to go from your pump, up and overboard in a pinch. Easy to hide the stuff too.

Assuming you have an outborad, a spare prop (just something that gets you home) and a prop wrench. Also, a small wood block to wedge the prop tight so you can get th enut off helps a lot - especially when hanging over the transom to do it. A roll of duct tape is good for temporary fixes to hoses, insulation etc. in a pinch.

How about spare light bulbs, especially for running / navigation lights and several spare fuses of each amperage in use aboard.

Spare spark plugs (and the wrenches, etc to change them), spare wire to make a jumper or more, spare fuel filter/water separator, spare batteries (AA, AAA, C, D or whatever your backup equipment take), spare anchor and rhode, tow rope and don't forget all the safety equipment including spare PFDs. Remember, if you fish someone out of the water you need a PFD onboard for them.

Bearings, races, cotters, seals, grease, spare spindle nut(s), punch and hammer travel with me now. I also carry "two" plug sockets now after my last loner rolled off the bracket and hit Neptune in the head.

A floating prop wrench. They sell them at West , Boaters World, etc... Ive dropped my non floating one while hanging backwards off the lower unit in 5' seas, wont ever have to worry about that again. Not in the repair category, but I always keep a gallon of bleach on board. If I run out of alcohol or peroxide, bleach makes for an excellent makeshift sanitizer for when you cut your hands trying to change the prop. Altenator belts, and most importantly a five gallon bucket, perhaps the most important and most versatile accessory on a boat.

Hose clamps and stainless screws variable sizes/self-tapping. I had the washdown pump come off in my boat which is on the same intake for my rear livewell. If I had screws I would have been fine I do now
