Default Wellcraft 290 coastal ??

Im cutting back on offshore fishing, will probably cruiise harbour,ICW and maybe overnight some... would still like to occasionally go tto the curve , but pick my days... 3-4 max...

Looked at the 290 yesterday at the boatshow... twin Yam F225s 10.5 ' beam... Biggest 29 I have seen in awhile.. big cockpit and aft deck ... Fair entry deadrise but only 18 degrees at transom... 8000# ... Feedback on "this boat" please.... I know it wont handle offshore like the Deep V CC s but I am willing to take some compromise for the amenities...That Big Beam felt so good.. (at the dock !)

I really like this boat - lotsa of them down here - 3 on my canal alone.*nice amenities, quality production build..I would rather have it witrh verados or zukes as the f225's are a little slow on the hole shot but it's a great weekend fishing/camping machine..they go extremely quickly win the boat trader here when in good shape...

Very nice boats for fishing and cruising. They have a nice mid cabin berth than can sleep two adults comfortably. Another boat to consider is the sea swirl 29 that is very similar (also owned by genmar). It is quite a bit more money but I think the Stamas 29 is best in class in this catagory though.

I like that boat a lot too. cruiser amenities ina boat you can fish from. I am gonna sea trial one soon and compare it to the new Hydrasports 2900vx that will come out this month. The HS has a 9'8" beam but also a nice cabin and probably a better hull (10 yr warranty). also a larger gas tank if range is an issue. they say a 23 degree deadrise for the HS

Got my 290 7/30/04. first boat and love it. lot of space and amenities for me. never took it off sure yet maybe in a couple of years still learning. when i step up to helm i feel like its a crusier but when i'm in the cox pit i know i'm ready to fish even, with the transom chair down it still screems ready to fish and when i'm on the transom i know i'm going swimming. i do like the open space. if there was any thing i would like corrected from my knowelge is the fish box drains and not have to whole the switch to drain. and a bigger hatch for the bilge so i could reach better when performing maintenance. other then that i a happy crusing fisherman
