What are you guys paying for a one year dry storage lease for a 25 foot boat? I had to switch marinas last year and my new rate is double what I was paying before! Before I talk to my new marina, I'd like to know if I was just getting a great rate before and have just encountered reality. The old rate was $1,500/yr. The new rate is $3,500/yr.
Last season was $1400 for 12 months. Operating season is April 15 (can't hardly wait) till October 15. Includes indoor winter storage. Won't get the bill for this year for another month or so, not expecting a significant increase. Where are you located?
Team FishDancer pays $11 per foot per month, plus $60 for the t-top and a charge for wide beam and trailer parking. We are in the dry stack at the Amelia Island Yacht Basin in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
I guess I can add, the fee includes unlimited trailer parking, overnight slips when desired, ramp, pool, showers... I just wish we had a year round season.
$280 per month for inside storage on a 23' Sea Ray in Jupiter, FL. Rental rates seem like they are going up at 20% + per year. With many new houses being built and no new rack storage, this is going to get alot worse. I'm getting ready to sell my current boat and buy something smaller that I can trailer (and fuel . . . )
I couln't afford to keep my boat in dry dock at what they get around here for gas and storage. It would be like another payment. At 2.50/gallon and 10-12/ft..it adds up fast. It would be convenient though.
I am afraid I am the victim of a monopoly and, to some extent, economic reality. This a brand new facility that was just completed last year. While I don't know for sure what it costs to build a steel reinforced storage shed and buy a couple of forklifts, $1.5 million wouldn't suprise me. Figure the annual interest carry on that kind of debt, coupled with normal business overhead, and the rate I'm being charged starts to make some sense. A 100% increase over the old facility is still hard to swallow, though.
Not a marina, but I keep my 26' on a trailer in a very nice inside RV storage facility about 2 blocks from my house. Cost is $130/mo but for the moment it is well worth it. There are cheaper places around but you do get what you pay for...
$100 a foot in Savannah*at completely rebuilt facility...store/bath/showers/etc.....no charge for launch/retrieval....located on ICW......combined 1/4 mile no wake zone before open running to the ocean....for a weekend warrior like me this is a very comfortable arrangement
Your right on par with what I'm paying for my 24', my rates got jumped $2 per foot, per month last year. Many facilities switching over to the condo gig, remaining dry storage facilities are getting cocky and raising prices. Can't afford the boat condo and the boat so I guess I'm at their mercy, putting it nicely!
I talked to the marina manager this morning and he agreed that the jump from $1,500 to $3,500 was a mistake. He explained that he set the rates based on other dry storage facilities up and down the coast, but he simply made a mistake pricing my boat. He thought I had a hard top (I wish) and twin outboards. Once he understood the specifics of my boat the annual charge was reduced to $2,650/yr., which seems in line with the $100/ft/yr. I've heard that other facilities are charging for indoor storage.
