There really isn't much. I think some of the hardware like the cleats were changed. In 02 they had different hull colors than the ones they use now. In 04 they got rid of the rear fishboxes but the boat hasn't changed a whole lot. They have come out with a new 2660 which I saw the other day that has significant changes.

Don't know if there is any difference hull wise. 2003 is when I started fishing Sailfish in the SKA and a good buddy and also SKA fisherman started working for them. Sailfish was making improvements in the boats wiring, options, rigging etc from that time forward. The popularity really started to take off by 2004. Not sure what they were like in 2002, but I would venture to say as long as you check out the switches, wiring, trim tabs, and make sure things screwed and bolted on have 5200 on them you should be fine. The only issue I remember was with wiring, probably the old circuit boards they had on the back of the switch panel. The newer switches and wiring is much better but the old can be easily updated. Also check the feul vent. The old ones that stuck out from the side of the boat could allow salt water into the gas tank.

FlHFRED,

I just bought a 266. Should take delivery in a couple of weeks. Talked with a fellow at the factory about the 2660. It came up while discussing windlass design for the anchor locker. I did not take notes but essentially remember:

The 2660 has the same hull. Transom/stern area is slightly wider and re-designed, gunnel width is slightly less giving a tiny bit more inside room, something about the dash size (not sure), a porta potty is /can be mounted on some kind of slide to move foreword out of the way in the consul and the rest of the boat is unchanged.

I may have missed something but that is essentially it. Important? I think it's more money than a 266. That decision is personal. I got a deal on one with twin 150's, lots of extras and a trailer for 61K. The sea trial was a revelation. Expect to be as happy as I hope I'll be.

I think once the 2660 get out and around most people will buy them instead of the 266. Don't get me wrong I have an 03 266 and love it but the new boat has a lot of nice features and improvements. I know people are complaining because they are going to be more expensive but when you see it you will see why. It is basicly the same hull but the cap is much different. Actually when you first see it it doesn't look like all the other sailfish's. Anyway I love our boat but if I were buying an 05 I think I would have to come up with the extra money and get the 2660. Sorry I know this is not what the original question was but I just saw the 2660 the other day and was very impressed.

Oh and "10%" I don't mean to make you feel like you made a bad decision going with the 266. It is a great boat and it sounds like you really got a good deal on it. I guess it would all depend on how much more this new boat was than the original. Not to mention availability as I don't know how many 2660 are floating around yet. Anyway you're going to love you're new boat they are really great rides.
