Default Opinions on Hydra Sports early 90's 25 ft CC's

I'm looking at a '91 25 ft Hydra Sport with notched transom. Any of you out there have experience with the ride and build quality. Any problems noted for that particular year/model. Boat has twin 175 hp Johnson Ocean Pro's. Any idea on fuel usage and cruise speed?

Thanks

Hal

Hello Hal, The only problem I ever heard of was wet feet with the notch transom on those early HS.A buddy of mine had a WA close to that same year and with twin 150 Suzi's on the transom we got a lot of water in the back. If I remember it did not have a great design on the splash gate.I think his had a 8 ft. beam, it rode good but was touchy with weight dist. We had to adjust the tabs a lot. I think the full tramsom with a bracket on his particular model wolud have been a much better choice.Good luck

If you're in the market for this boat you might look at Vector Marine in Wilmington. They have one for sale that looks like a 90's hull with twin Fitch's that look like recent vintage. Can't remember hp. Has a full transom with bracket, Yellow hull color, and a nice layout inside. They are asking 27K OBO. Its been there a while, might be worth it to low ball them and see what you get. It's in a lot next door to the main lot, maybe a consignment lot, not sure.

The fact that it has Ficht's is a problem. Too many bad stories. I'm not a gambler.

Those are new motors on that HS. It might be worth looking at. Its on the lot in front of the bowling ally in Ogden. He has it priced at 27,995. obo and its been there for a while so I would go low and see what happens.

hblac,
It's your money but I think the Fitch's after 2001 have been very good motors. I researched all the archives on the Fitch's recently and the opinions are overwhelmingly positive. If those motors are really new with warranty I don't see how you can go wrong. If I were looking for that hull I would be all over that boat. Your fuel and oil usage, smoke, and noise should be considerbly less than with the Ocean Pro's.
