I tested the Marlago 1 year ago and hated it with Yamaha F225s. What a pig! Do not buy it with those motors. I also tested it about 6 months later with 250 HPDIs and there was a huge difference in performance and ride (it was 4 feet in the Chesapeake Bay that day). No doubt that boat needs the extra power to get up on top fast and really let the hull work.

For what it's worth, I finally got my Contender 31 Open with F250s wet and the F250s add about 6-7mph over the 225s (wot 56-57 vs. 50-51 mph). I'd go for the Marlago with F250s and never bat an eye at the extra $2k...

If I were buying this boat with Yamaha power, I'd rank them in this order:

1) F250
2) 300 HPDI
3) 250 HPDI
4) F225

No idea about the Verados...

Get the Verados and don't look back. The F250's are great, but they aren't Verados! Do a search, and you'll find out what makes the Verados superior! For that boat, twin 275 Verados would be the perfect match!

I've heard a lot of good stuff about the verados, but what the heck do I know... I'm running a Yamaha 25 four stroke on a 12' Nautica.

How's it going rugala? What the heck is a Merlago? I've got to get to a boat show. e-mail me at gaelforce@optonline.net
Hope all is well,
Bones
