Scott,
I heard about this from my cousin Scott Horensky. I have a place in Beach Haven and also know your brother Tiger. Hope you find the scum that ripped you off. I understand some of these end up in the Bahamas, hopefully you'll get yours back. Maybe I'll meet you one day in BH.

Scott,
That really sucks.
I am sorry to hear about it.
I guess we need to start installing lojack in our boats now.
If you ever find the scum bag lets take them out shark fishing.
Just let me know I will be there.
Good luck
Jeff

dammit....sorry to hear this.
where in LBI? I keep my boat there as well. I hate to hear of this happening around here....really gets me angry. I always think of LBI as relatively safe and immune.
Was it locked? Chain or hitch ball lock? What time of day?
That takes some guts and lack of brains on the thief's part. Going all the way south and over the bridge. I'm up on the north end as well, always figured if they stole one, they wouldn't want to traverse half the island and a bridge. I never felt the need for locks either, and not sure if that'd stop them anyway. When they have an eye on a boat, they'll get it no matter what. I hope it works out and the boat is recovered quickly.
I took the liberty to post this on the "pay" forum for you. More people that see it, the better.
Be great if THT members could help track down these creeps...
Boy that is a bummer. I hope you get your ride back. There is another site that gets a lot of action you may want to post on. www.tidalfish.com the site is free. I wish you the best.
Damn, that really sucks!* I have like 2 sets of locks on my boat and I am still weary of some one stealing my boat.* I keep it in my yard during winter and hope that all the locks deture anyone from trying to steal her but I guess if they want it bad enough they will take it no matter what.
If it was taken from your home will your home owners insurance cover it?
Please keep us all posted and I hope you find the sons a b&%#^es that did this.

Word of experience...both points above aren't typically valid. Boats are usually stolen in broad daylight with numerous witnesses, none of whom will be able to positively ID the suspect if caught. At best, detectives will be able to present a weak case to the SAO, if an arrest is even made, and if detectives are even involved. The law is on their side, protecting their rights as boat thieves. The law views it as non-violent property theft, just like a kid's bicycle or a pair of shoes. Thieves know this and actually expect to get caught for a wrist slap, so they appear brazen.
You have to consider locks/chains with statistics...a casehardened chain around trailer wheels will deter 90% of the thieves, not "if they want it they'l take it". Most thieves are looking for an easy steal and will be deterred by multiple locks, its the other 10% (the pros) that will get through most locks.
Auburn is right, these guys just don't care. Some of my closest friends are the C&H Lure guys. If anyone has seen their boat it was a 34' Fountain totally done with custom graphics. Even if you don't like boats, you would still turn your head to look at it. They kept the boat in the lot next to their store and on a Saturday with customers in the store, the thieves pulled into the back lot, hooked up the boat and drove off.
They got lucky, since the boat was so easily identifiable, someone who knew the boat saw it going south on 95 and called the FHP and the theives were caught around Coco Beach.
Just goes to show, if they want it, they will take it.
I read an article a few years back about a guy whose boat was stolen. The police were not effective in trying to locate the boat. He had a reasonable idea of when it was stolen and went on to check security video at various toll booths in the area and was able to ID the thiefs.
