RE: EVINRUDE FICHT - 200hp 2000
Only 98 and early 99 150-175 hp blocks had the problem - They where the only ones issued the formal notice by the Coast Guard. OMC offered an updated head (pinned head) and strengthened injector bracket kit for the 150-175. The head was not a problem on the 200-225 and though not a problem on the 200-225 a strengthened injector kit was offered too.
Bought a used 99 200 hp with the kit installed that had a little over 250 hrs on it two years ago. Had it gone over with a fine tooth comb – compression, serial number, computer diagnostic, etc. Traded a 99 150 carbed Johnson for $2500 + tax installed and one year written guaranty. Two years and over 500 hours later I’m still happy as clam and the engine has been flawless.
