Default Ax-men boat fire is 100% fake

I have to share this with someone else because my wife thinks I am nuts. I was watching Ax Men and have always thought that you can at least count on Discovery Channel and History Channel for at least some what accurate tv.

On last weeks episode- one of the pontoon boats stalls and catches fire. The engine that stalled was a mid 1990s Yamaha 20 inch. Suddenly it explodes into fire and became a 15inch Evinrude 3 cylinder 70hp from the mid 1980s. This is the engine they are pouring water onto and have to jump in the water to escape the flames. The fuel line, rigging and steering are not even hooked up when you freeze it on that scene.

The producers created the whole scene and burned another engine in its place. The rest of the episode they talked about how lucky they are they did not burned worse when it was all fake.

Shame on History Channel. I understand its for entertainment but then dont pretend its real.

Most of the time the first season seems to be pretty accurate. After that I guess they run out of material and have to make shit up!

Those channels are fake now. Hardly any history or true stories any more.

Bigfoot, ufos, Nostradamus, pyramid power - this is the "history" channel. What pisses me off is that people believe the crap they show, at least in part, because it is shown on a channel that proports to be educational. I don't mind if people find that stuff entertaining, just change the name of the network to the "magic crystal science fantasy alien conspiracy fake reality" channel. It would be nice to see more serious history, but I guess it doesnt pay the bills

Funny, but I noticed the same thing.

I guess that 'ol Rude came to them pretty cheap, unlike that 'ol Yammy...

The sad part is that 15inch 3 cylinder OMCs are rare and desired for the midsection and lower unit. I can understand burning a Force but that is just wrong.

Fast forward to 23:20 and you can watch it. At 24:28 you can see a complete side profile of the engine.

Noticed the same thing on Swamp People last night. It must have been a THT member narrating 5-6' waves, when they weren't over 1' and crashing over the stern. Guy kept yelling "we're going down!"

The shots of the boat taking on water were so fake it was unwatchable. Too bad....

The first sign of the fakery on the motor burning up was the sound that was dubbed in when it stalled out.
