Default Comparing H/S A/S and Wellcraft, Why are the range numbers so different?

I am shopping for a used 22' - 25' W/A and after looking at thousands of boats on the web and many many others in the marina, I am leaning toward these three for my needs. 1999 Hydra-Sport 23' Seahorse W/A, 1997-2000 Aquasport 225 Explorer and a 1998-2001 Wellcraft 23' (1998) 24' (1999-2000) W/A. These boats are all made by Genmar now, and I am unsure if they were during these years, but I do have a couple questions since things do not seem to add up. I have been reviewing the Product Information Guides available on the web for these three boats and they all have around 100 gals of fuel (Wellcraft - 99g, A/S 102g, H/S 105g).

Compare these performance numbers with me and see if you can help.

A/S 225 Explorer - 102 gals fuel - Dry Weight 4,100 (w/200 OB) - Deadrise 19 deg.
Performance Data: OMC 200 O/B ( 200 OMC Ocean)
Time to Plane: 3.3 secs
Top Speed: 42.7 mph @ 5500 RPM
Cruise Speed: 27.7 @ 4000 RPM
Cruise Range: 270 Miles (95% Fuel Capacity)
Prop: 15" x 17" SST

H/S 230 Seahorse - 105 gals fuel - Dry Weight 3950 (w/225 OB) - Deadrise 18 deg.
Performance Data: Johnson 225 O/B
Top Speed: 46 mph
Cruise Speed: 31 @ 4000 RPM
Cruise Range: 234 Miles (90% fuel capacity)
Prop: 15" x 17" SST

Wellcraft 23 Walkaround - 99 gals fuel - Dry Weight 3400 (w/150 OB) - Deadrise 21 deg.
Performance Data: OMC 200 O/B ( 200 OMC Ocean)
Time to Plane: 2.96 secs
Top Speed: 46.8 @ 5890 RPM
Cruise Speed: 30.8 @ 4000 RPM (95% Fuel Capacity)
Cruise Range: 345 Miles
Prop: 15" x 17" SST

Ok , The problem I am having is really with the A/S vs the wellcraft. 270 miles vs 345 with the same Engine. The weights are a little different (A/S 4100 w/200 OB, Wellcraft 3400 w/150 OB) and by looking at the two boats, the Wellcraft has a sharper angle of entry and 2" less beam.

My question is, Do those little differences ( few hundred pounds less and 2" less beam w/ sharper angle of entry) account for roughly 30% greater fuel economy when comparing the performance of the same motors? The other answer is that one of the two, probably the Wellcraft, is fudging the numbers a litttle bit. Let me know. I appreciate your response.
