Going to Venice this weekend for some Lump action. I have never been, Are there any restaurants down there, or will we need to bring food. I am sure there are some restaurants due to the influx of fishermen, just wanted to double check. Thanks in advance.
There are some down there, but they usually have very slow service and they sometimes are closed for no apparent reason.......The one at Cypress cove has good food and they make a very good top shelf margarita.....
There is another place in a hotel off of the main road that makes giant cheesburger Po Boys...those are good......
There is a place @ 15 milesNorth of Venice that has some incredible Oysters...it is a few blocks off the main road near the big flag...
there is also another place in town called grannies or something like that..it is good...
I am sorry that I can not be more specific on names, but I am usually not driving and too drunk to pay more attention.....
Stop off in New Orleans for a good meal then hit it again on the way home. Other than that bring some sandwich material for your tripp. I hope you get some good weather for the wknd.
The restaurant at cypress cove is OK, take in a little of your day's catch and they'll fix it for you, with sides and a drink for $10 a person, there are two other places in town, very local flavor, friendly, decent meal at a decent price, the one thing is that the grocery store opens after you go out fishing and closes before you get back, pick up snacks and drinks on the day you arrive or on the way down, there is a mini-mart open if you want to pay their prices.....hope the weather cooperates.....love the fishing at Venice....hope this helps, Mick

Oh, and bring you poker chips...there is absolutely nothing to do down there if you get blown out......and do not go to any of the local bars.....the rig men who frequent those places are very drunk and angry....they sit and watch fisherman have fun next to their rigs all day and night............they are just waiting for you to make eye contact with them so they can start a fight...they are like frat boys.....there will be anywhere from 4 to 8 of them and they will use bar weapons.....I took out three of them while they beat me with beer bottles and pool sticks.....then the waitrees sprayed us all with pepper spray...my other buddies were able to keep themselves from getting hurt......and the goofy fly fisherman who I was sticking up for were able to sneak out reletively unscathed.....
Moral of the story? Next time you are in a bar in Venice, watch with glee as some yuppies with Gloomis fishing shirts get their @$$es beaten by filthy rig workers.....
cracker you should stay clear of any joint that has roof shingles missing and 10 year old pick up trucks parked at oblique angles. Also, avoid any place that serves sushi down there
There is a also a Pizza Hut and a Karaoke Bar that reportedly also sells sins of the flesh. Go there to fish and do not expect to do much at night except hang out at the marina enjoy your favorite libation and watch the catch come in. BTW, Bring your Dramamine this weekend.

They were shut down for prostitution. Cajun Kitchen is decent in Buras. Cypress Cove is your best bet. Expensive and below average food. Only a few bars and they are dives. Recommend stopping in New Orleans. No shortage of places to eat and drink in N.O. People go to Venice to fish and work offshore. That is all.
