I'M THINKING ABOUT BUYING A TROPHY 2503 C/C. I'VE HEARD GREAT THINGS ABOUT THIS BOAT, BUT ONLY FROM TROPHY REPS. I'VE ALSO VIEWED THE SEASWIRL 2601 C/C AND THE WELLCRAFT 252 FISHERMAN C/C. I'VE SEEN ALL OF THESE BOATS AT THE L.A. BOAT SHOW. IT SEEMS WITH TROPHY YOU GET MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK AND THE 2503 HAS MORE AMENITIES THAT ARE STANDARD OPTIONS- NOT UPGRADES. HOW DOES THE 2503 C/C RIDE? ARE THERE HULL ISSUES I NEED TO CONSIDER? I'M THINKING ABOUT GOING WITH TWIN MERCURY VERADO 200'S OR A SINGLE VERADO 275. ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!
i have a 2302 trophy wa. i like the boat but i would never buy another one ever. they show real nice look good on the water but in reality there poorly built in my opinion. go with the seaswirl. im not trying to knock trophy because for the price there a good deal but you get what you pay for in life. i would not put the verodaos on the trophy if you get it because the motors are just to damn nice for the boat.
buy a grady white, and do not buy mercs. honda, suzuki or yammys
is the way to go. the grady is well built and more important they stand
behind the boat....... good luck.

Based on what --- Grady is way overpriced, there are plenty of boats that are better for the money they want for that. And what is wrong with Mercs, you say do not buy this or that but do not back it with anything.
Trophy boats are a mid class boat along the lines of a Sea Swirl, Wellcraft, Sea Hunt, etc. They are solidly built with oversized foam filled glass stringers which are glassed in for strength. The transom is wood cored. I assume they re-enforce the transom for the Verados like they did with the 2305 model. Fittings are stainless steel and through bolted. Wiring is not top of the line since it lacks shrink tubing and sealing on the ends but it is marine grade wire, in wire chases to prevent chaffing and it is color coded. Most of the models do not have built in access to the fuel tank(s) so replacement would warrant the cutting of the deck, but, they do use plastic tanks which should not require replacement in normal usage. While you're not getting the fit and finish of a Grady here you're also not paying the price of a Grady either. You get a lot for your money with a Trophy.
I owned a 2003 Trophy 1802 WA and just traded it on a 2005 Trophy 2052 WA due for delivery this April. I would highly recommend the 1802 to anyone looking for a boat in that size/style. Besides the answers you get here you might want to try the Bayliner Owners Club since Trophy has it's roots in Bayliner. They separated at the end of the 2001 season. GRANTED, THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE IN PRICE. THE LENGTH IS 25', THE BEAM IS 8'6", WEIGHT WITH STANDARD SINGLE MERC 225 IS 4,124 LBS., DRAFT HULL 1'9", FUEL CAPACITY: 163 GAL. UPON PURCHASE THERE ARE MANY OPTIONS WITH VERADO PACKAGES- SINGLE AND TWIN. CHECK TROPHY BOATS.COM LET ME KNOW WHAT U THINK, IF U GET A CHANCE. THANKS.
I own a 2000 2302 Trophy and have not had any build quality issues with the boat. The ride seems good to me, but I'm not in a rush either. I don't think there are any boats out there that are going to stand up to repeated abuse witout stress cracks appearing or something breaking. As has been mentioned they have glass stringers now and their designs are very functional. They also have a 10 yr hull warranty and from what I have heard, back their boats. Some mention resale being a problem, but I haven't sold a boat yet that I haven't lost my butt on. Take a look at all brands in your price range. Make sure to take a really close look at the actual boat you are buying whatever brand it is. Good Luck
Trophy quality to me appears to
have improved over models from 10 yrs ago.
There are also some very loyal owners out there
that must know something?
Take a sea trial before buying!
In 1999/2000 Trophy significantly upgraded their build qual. i own a 2000 2802 WA which i bought new in 4/2000 it will be 5 yrs old in 2 mo. and i have taken it to bimini twice and to the keys by water twice, it rides well and i keep up on these trips with all types of boats including GW. i fish at least 4/5 times a month out of haulover inlet. all hardware is 316 SS w backing plates, my bimini frames are SS not alum like on some other boats. i have had two bilge pumps replaced under warranty after the warr expired! I have had no cracks or failures to the hull. wiring could be better, however i have not had a wiring related failure. all systems work, there are dedicated separate pumps for the baitwell and SW wash, not shared like on some more $$$ boats. I looked at a GW 28' sailfish before buying and could not justify added $50000 for GW over what i paid and my cabin is larger with more headroom. Sure GW is a great boat but I could not see the $$$ difference. Bottom line my Trophy is much better than the reputation, which came from older boats built more by bayliner, trophy separated from bayliner in 2000 as far as build quality. I don't know anything about the 2503, but I have no regrets with my 2802WA.
My Uncle has the 25 Trophy, but with the cabin. I have spent a good deal of time on the boat.
The boat rides well and I have never noticed any problems with getting wet. He has had a few small problems - some spider cracks and the T-Top leaked.
For the money he spent I think he got a lot of boat. I was on the new 25 with the Cuddy at two recent boat shows and they have made some excellent changes to make the boat more user friendly - which is my compliant - not my Uncles - He loves his boat and would buy another.
Straightup2222, I own a 2004 2352 Trophy that is spending it's winter getting repaired now for the 3rd time. All problems are water intrusion to various areas, Transom water logged, Hard top has 1" standing water in it ,and swim platform water logged. All these leaks could have been prevented by the use of marine sealant, yes! , the hard top trim leaked and when removed had many missing areas with no caulk!. The transom leaked around the trim tabs and motor cutout the 1st time ,now they took everything off the transom finally and found the transom door moulding had no sealant! letting water fill the transom again! The swim platform is getting replaced this time due to it delaminating!.
So yes they do back their boats ,with many repairs, and lots of time spent not in your possession. If you do go with the trophy buy a case of 4200 sealant and take the boat apart and seal it your self so you dont have to go through what I am going through!! Oh as far as the ride I'll let you know what I think when I get the boat long enough to go for a good ride. And as far as value to headaches,Give me a "DO-OVER" and i'll buy a different boat!
Whats resale, they don't cost much when you buy and they are worth less when you sell them. It's all relavent, Bayliner is great for the industry, they enable people who couldn't otherwise buy a boat to have one. If they don't enjoy boating they can get out without a large investment. If they do enjoy it, they can trade it or sell and buy somthing nicer.
Trophy, Brunswick Family Boat Co., 360-435-5571 (Recall 040140S)
2004-2005 2503 CC & 2502 Walkaround: Bulkheads may not properly isolate fuel tank compartment from non-ignition protected components. This creates the possibility of fire or explosion if gas fumes are present.

Do we want to grab every recall on every model of every boat off the USCG sited and post them here on THT? What's your point? That there is a recall? Ok...so that means they're fixing them. Most all recalls are safety issues.

If I were buying this boat,I would be very thankful of that information.
