Default Parker 2300 cc Pros/Cons

In my endless search I am starting to lean towards a new 2300. Like the bracket, fishing room, draft, casting deck. Seems set up for kids tubing. No head is ok, girls only on during summer and they don't mind going in the big toilet. Cooler for aft seat seems duable.

Fishing 75% in/near shore, 25% off-shore picking my days. Any suggestions/comments on ride, engine setup, tabs, upgrades, accessories would be appreciated.

Still love the 2320, but just don't think it is going to work.

The 2320 and 2300CC are the same hull (comments on 2320 would apply). Yamaha Perf. Bulletins are very close. I believe there are some aftermarket fold up transom seats if you perfer.

I love everything about that boat except (a) no head compartment in the console which is very unusual on a BIG 23-footer, and (b) some folks have engine preferences other than Yamaha but Parker absolutely jams Yamaha down your throat. No boat leaves the Parker factory without a Yamaha motor installed, like it or not.

I have two Parkers and the one I like the most is my 23' DV CC.

They are built very well, hold up well and hold their values well. The ride of the 21 degree deadrise hull is preferable IMO; but I have always been a sharper deadrise fan. You will like Parker boats and will like the ride if you get the 21 degree deadrise even if it will rock a little bit more at drift.

fishjar, IMO it hurts the resale and that goes for the Regulator 23 also.

Parker is among the upper tier in resale performance - I don't think you'll do much better. They sell very quickly when offered for resale.

I agree that as a whole, the Parker line has excellent resale. My comments are about the 2300. I find it very inconsistent to provide forward seating on a center console and hype the "family" aspect and then offer no head compartment for the comfort of the family's female members.

Fishermen are the biggest share of the market for Parker boats - the lack of a console head is not a problem for most of these guys.

Most of those fisherman types that I know would HATE the forward seating in a Parker 2300.

When I heard Parker was making FS standard on the 2300CC, I whined and whined until Parker made me one w/o (del. May '03). To the best of my knowledge, I have the very last 2300CC w/o FS.

The center console, once a fisherman's favorite is quickly evolving into a combo ski boat, cruiser, sport boat, bow rider.

The amount of room in a 23' Parker with bracket vs. a 24' Hydrasport is day and night. That Hydra Euro transom steals SO DARN much fishable space.

We have a 2301 DV used for patrol. Great boat, handles like a much bigger boat in the rough stuff. I personally have used it in 3-5 footers. Right trim, tab settings, angle to the waves and speed you will have a nice ride with a pretty soft entry. I thought the boat handled just as well as my 25 MV, with out the pounding.

As far as the Porta Potti, you can get one that is integrated into the front V seat. Large towel around the waist and some fancy footwork the girls can get enough privacy to get the job done. It will be another year or so before they have the console head for the Parkers. That is the word from my dealer anyway.

You won't be sorry. Oh by the way, our boat has a 225 Yamaha 4 stroke on a bracket and not to many trips to the gas dock with the 100+ gallon fuel tank.
