Default Battery Chargers

My friend is looking for a charger for his inboard powered boat. He has two engine batteries and a house battery. The two chargers he is seriously considering are the three bank Xantrex and the Pro Mariner. I saw BPS makes a knockoff of the Pro Mariner for about half the price, but don’t know
anything about it. Both are smart chargers and can be left on at all times w/o
the risk of damaging the batteries. Any feedback or suggestions?

I would personally go w/ Dual Pro or Guest. I've got a Dual Pro- There have been a few good discussions here about these two, and customer svc. seems to be Very good w/ both.

I'll second JVLII's recommendation of the DualPro. I have 2, one on each boat, both triple bank (triple battery) chargers and they are the best charger(s) I have ever owned.

My Guest 3 bank charger has already lost one bank and it is not worth having it fixed. Cost about the same to fix it as it would to buy another one.

Search old posts. Even though several people had Guest chargers die, I seem to recall the company did some "out of warranty" repairs.

Nice to hear that the Dual Pro seem at bit more robust.

I have the 2-bank BPS "knockoff" charger on my boat with no adverse problems.* Batteries are fully charged at all times with no degradation in battery performance.

I have got the BPS dual bank also and it works fine and comes with A 2 year warranty. Think it is made by pro mariner, could be wrong.

I've got a Guest 2620(5yrs) and a Guest 2611(1 yr) on my boat...FLAWLESS...if you've got a problem w/a Guest charger, call them...this is a company that backs their products

...Oh yeah...keep in mind some on-board chargers will allow power use while in charging mode...some WILL NOT...if you wanna run a bait tank or lights, etc overnite while charging, make sure you're getting one designed for that use
