Default Used Boat Prices

Are there any reliable sources out there for finding prices on used boats?

Boattrader.com
Local Craigslist

Prices can differ depending on location.

Look at what asking prices are locally unless you are wiling to buy in other locations.

There is no reliable source other than doing the legwork. That means physically looking at boats for sale in your area. The best written ad and a good picture can cover up a lot of trash until you walk around or get in the boat. And if you are selling you'll have a much better what your competitors are offering feature/price wise.

Yes, you can go to http://www.boatus.com/ and request a boat value check. They will then check values through NADA and the like, and also check the going price of boats like the one you request. Of course they can't vouch for the condition of the boat you are actually looking at, so its a starting point to work backwards or forwards from as the condition of the actual boat varies for better or worse from the stated condition in the check.

There was a great amount of information from another web site (BOC.com) that addressed this issue. It was written by a seasoned boat sales broker and listed the major sources for reporting used boat selling prices (MarineMax, Galanti, Yachtbroker, etc). Bottom line was - if a broker even reports a selling price (a lot don't), then more than likely it will be inaccurate. More than likely, they will inflate the sale price not to keep lowering the "bottom dollar of the used boat market". So when a broker says "lets see what this model is selling for", the data is probably inaccurate. There can be a GREAT seperation between asking and selling prices today. Good news if you are a buyer.

Best way in my opinion and one of the most accurate is to just see what comparable boats sold for recently so if you looking at a particular boat and year range see what they closed at and you can get an idea of the market for that particular boat.
