I've got a 2008 leftover that was installed last year. Could not be happier at the present moment.

If my exhaust corrodes I will not be happy, we'll see if that day comes!

Mine are 2005. Rock solid so far, 650hrs. However I bought the boat with 150hrs, 2 1/2 years ago.

Been great.

The 05 model motor filter is different than 06. The filter is 40 bucks or so. Well worth it but more than newer models I believe. (I know, I know)

Mine are late 2005 and have 1600 hours. Each has had a trim motor replacement. Pretty amazing motors so far. My only issue is the 2:1 gear that I have always considered too low for the power the motors generate right off of idle.

sold a set of 09/05 f250 with 1000 hours... needed a new lower unit.... and a gasket for the oil pump on the port motor.... no exhaust corrosion.... No motor problems

Have a set of 09 f250's now... 300 hours since may... zero problems....

I had a pair of F225's on my 26' 2003 Grady with 1350 hours before I sold it. They ran perfectly all the time. I now have a pair of F250's on my 33' 2006 Grady with 450 hours. They also run perfect all the time. My opinion: the corrosion reports on the early F225's are very real but very overstated (like 2% pf all motors built pre 2005 had this problem). The F250's fair very well relative to the corrosion issues (no one seems to know why). Also, the F250's are screamers - they put out a true 250 hp while the F225's only put out 208 hp. Both are superb engines and arguably the best in their respective classes. Just saying...

Good luck!

The F250 may be the best outboard ever made. (My opinion of course) Everything from the reliability, power (top end) efficiency, low noise level, availability of Yamaha parts at local services centers, etc.

My opinion as well. After 6 seasons and 900 hours, I have replaced one trim sender switch, (under YES warranty). My warranty runs out in May 2012, and I'm sorry I didn't take the rebate instead

I have a 2011 F250 XCA with 100 hrs and have had zero issues. I took it 68 miles offshore to the stream with total confidence. The fuel burn is amazingly low with my 23" CC. Glad I paid the extra $ for this great machine.

I have a 06 250 with 200 hrs and no problems - I am wondering what people are getting for fuel efficiency with their 250's. I get 1.8 mpg with mine of a 24 ft Seasport explorer - pacific northwest boat?

Thanks D

Default Confused...

have there been any reports of corrosion related failures on the f250s? i'm sure they would turn up here; probably before they even exist...

trying to understand the fundamental differences f225/f250 if the f250 does NOT have the problem.....

One of, if not the most reliable engine on the market place. As far as durability time will tell as far as the corrosion issues. The oldest models are just now comming of the age where it could start showing up.

05 F250 500hrs........covered under warranty, installation of "speedy sleeve" to remedy minor oil leak coming from oil pump. recent service revealed no abnormal exhaust chamber corrosion.

I have f200's and am repowering this winter. Anyone know if I can throw on the F250's without changing out all the controls? Is a digital system required for the new f250?

thanks.
