Spoke to a Yamaha guy.* He admitted there is a problem with some of the*HPDIs.* Like Tsunami has said - saltwater intrusion is the problem.* He said fixes are in the works.* He looked at me like I was nuts when I said I heard there was a geographic restriction on who gets the fix.* I didn't press the point since that never made sense to me in the first place.* Nice honest guy in my opinion.*
The 35 Triton was there and this is a very nice boat.* Great center console, plenty of storage,*helm station built for three people, second livewell with 2 built in tuna tubes, adjustable standpipe for the main livewell. *Price was around $170k w/ trip F225s.*
The HS Vector 33 was a monster.* It has the most interesting console I have seen.* Huge deck, ton's of storage, massive bilge area, large head.* Price was around $170k w/ trip F225. Look for a new model between the 28 and the 33 at the Miami show.
Glacier Bay's 34/35 cabin model is absolutely breath taking in its size.* I do not have any idea how they can push that boat with OBs.* It has a walkout patio between the engines....I am serious, it was a*platform that*was at least 4' x 4' square.* Dones of details and I imagine would deliver an incredible ride.* This thing looks like it should have*diesels.
I could not get any questions answered by the Merc guys.* Their little booth was packed with people everytime I went by and I finally gave up.* You should watch the people look at the Verado - typical remark started with OMG...
Nothing new at Raymarine except I got a brochure on the new remote AP station.* After the e series are out the HSB2 systems are to be discontinued - no surprise.
Got fiberglass stuck in my hand as I checked under the lip of the bilge hatch on the Palmetto 33.* Contender did not show up this year - the Yamaha guy commented on that.* I told him I heard a rumor about Contender being sold and he winced - again, I didn't press the point.
Not enough saltwater boats at the show but understandable since the closest beach is 275 miles away.
How much was the Palmetto 33? What power and options? Thanks. Also, if you saw the Palmetto 27 or Sea Pro 27 CC if you remember prices there I'd appreciate. Thanks.
The Sea-Pro guys at the show said that Honda had stepped in and agreed to supply engines for the remainder of the 2005 year...Yamaha and Bomb will repossess any remaining inventory as of February 6.
However, once the 2006s come out, they will be available with Mercs only.
I saw the SeaPro 270, posted thoughts on it a few days ago, Bolling Bridge Marine had it for 75k with f225s and lots of little extras, + trailer, but overall I wasnt impressed, and I was going with the intentions of making a deal. Ive been on the market for a boat of that size for about 4 months now, i was most impressed at the show with the Mako 284, any thoughts on it??? i got a bad response from most guys on the forum, I dont mind hearing it, I just wish i could of heard from someone that has been out on the new boat.
I saw the Mako and didn't get on board.* It definitely has a solid fg hull and looked*good from my perspective.* Without being on board I can't really comment on the quality of the fit and finish......except for the deck plates on the euro transom, instead of being twist on deck plates they*used screws to secure the plate.* I am talking about small SS*screws to*secure the*plate.* It wouldn't take long to strip those screws now that I think about it.
Did you see that big Everglades boat thee at the show? It was next to the Palmetto Custom 33. The PC33 they had there already had a Raymarine C80 insatlled. The price was around 133k. The sales guy said he ordered it for himself but decieded against it for some reason. I tuned him out once he started running down Mercury power. I didnt think he had much room to talk with those 300s on the back. The PC is a beautiful boat. I love the way the console goes up and down. I really did like that Everglades boat. It looked to be about 32-33 feet and it looks like the designer thought of everything.
I saw the Everglades, although I didn't get on it.* It had a very cool 4 post hardtop.* I believe the guy that worked for Whaler, founded Edgewater is the founder of Everglades.**I was a interesting design but I could vouch for the quality of the construction.* What did you guys think about its fit and finish?
The finish was 2nd to none. The seats in front of the console were like airplane seats in 1st class. Large stainless cupholders and powdercoated grab rails. Just about evryhting was powdercoated. Inside the consloe was huge. I didnt see any wires visible and nothing like the rats nest on my boat. The console actually has doors for when the weather is cold or wet. The electronics space was big enought for 2 x C120s. It also had a fiberglass panel that raised, lowered, and locked to keep honest theives at bay. The bait station was in the middle of the tacle station with numerous drawers for tackle and such. The bait wells also were wired with a red light that keeps the eyes from dialating at night. Tons of features and them more features. I could have spent 3 hours on this boat going over everthing. At 135k rigged I think it is a bargin. I would have prefered a pair of Mercs instead of the 300 Yams. But that is personal preference.
