Default Sea Hunt 202 or Sea Pro 206

I've narrowed my search down to these two boats and I've been thinking that many have probably been in the same situation (they really do compete against one another). What made you chose one over the other? I have my list of +'s and -'s but curious to others opinions.

I'm not concerned about the Brunswick takeover, however I did learn from a Sea Pro dealer today that all new boats ordered will be with Mercury power immediately - I had thought that Yamaha would still be an option for 2005.

Brunswick would be insane to drop the line - these boats sell.

Thanks for any input.

I Owned a '01 212WA, nice boat but lost alot of fishing room to the cabin which was never used for anything other then storage. I've removed the 212 CC from my list because you are forced to get the high bow-rail. I even called the factory on it and they wont move. Secondly, having owned a Seahorse/Lightning HS in the past I can honesty say that I believe both the Sea Hunt and the Sea Pro to be better built.

There are plenty '04 and '05 Sea Pro's out there that still have Yamaha power. The ones that I am looking at all have Yamaha 4-stroke or 2-stroke power.

I narrowed my search to a choice between the Sea Hunt 202 and the Sea Pro 206 cc. I chose the Sea Pro. I felt that both boats offered a very nice value for the $. The Sea Hunt had a few features I liked better than the Sea Pro but overall I felt the Sea Pro offered me a better boat for my needs.
The Sea Pro 206cc is almost a foot longer than the SH. I liked the euro transom better. The gunwales were higher. I liked the layout of the console much more. There were other standard features such as hydraulic steering, dual livewells
that better suited my needs. Overall I felt it was a sturdier built boat.
I am no "expert" on boat quality, but I felt that the Sea Pro was better for my needs.

Both are nice boats. I liked the layout of the Sea Hunt better and their customer service really impressed me. Ultimately I would never buy a boat that is only available with a Mercury. Sea Pro wouldn't even be on my list because of the limited power choice.

If you are looking at the 206 with a Yamaha F150, you are right that you cannot get that power. As everyone knows Merc does not have a 150 Four Stroke YET. The four cylinder Verado's are about a year out, but until then Sea Pro is offering Honda 150 Four Strokes for the same price of the Yamaha's, even though they were not previously avaliable.

I have a 180 seapro and I,ve been out in some of the roughest conditions in the chessy and still felt perfectly safe. I,ve never rode on a seahunt, but from what I,ve heard, they,re are just as good. I think any choice you make will be a good one. I see 2005 seapros with yamahas all the time. you don,t have to get a merc. I guees it depends on the dealer though.

Last year i was in the same boat (haha). I had narrowed it down the the same 2 plus the polar. I ended picking the Sea Pro because i liked the layout alittle better and the front platform was alittle bigger, that was a concern for my wife. She lays out there during our trips. Value wise i think both a even, ride wise same. So pick one based on the comfort of the layout. Good luck cant lose either way.

Just to clarify one thing: At this point I have all the power options I'm interested in. The dealer I am talking to has one w/ a Yamaha 150 Carb motor and one with a Yamaha 150 four stroke.

Take the power option out of this equation.

I think the dual large livewells on the seapro are the best thing going for a comaprison between these 2. Just for info the dealer tells me the seahunt 220 is only about $600 more on the hull and for that amount he said the 212 can't compete. Not sure if I agree that is just what he satated. He might have been trying some salesman voodoo on me to spend more money?

Lone - no please do send them. I've been looking for a clean used boat for more then a year. I've about given up since purchasing a summer home on the water. I do not want to miss the boating season, so have resorted to looking new. A Vector is certainly not the same boat as a SeaHorse/Lightning.

It will come down to timing/price at this point between preowned and new.
