Default Price suggestions on a Mako 284

I'm new to the forum so please allow myself to introduce myself. As per the forum guildelines I'm identifying myself as being "in the biz." Don't hold it against me. I'm here to learn as much as I'm here to contribute my own knowldge to this great site.

I took over the Sea Tow franchise for the Cape Cod Bay area this past year and I'm having a great time rebuilding the business into a customer service oriented operation. If you're in the area say hello or wave to me on the water.

I'm looking for price suggestions on a late 80's Mako 284 CC. The transom has been glassed over and two OLD Johnson 225 motors hang on a bracket. The boat has no electronics and I don't have any survey information yet. What do you guys think?

Try www.classicmako.com if Ringleader or Warthog don't chime in here....lots of knowledgeable Mako people there.....and welcome on board.

What are they asking? As my Grandfather used to say, "The first person to mention a price most always loses."

The boat isn't currently for sale but has been semi-abandoned at a boat yard (tucked way in the back of the yard, hasn't moved in a year). I have contact info for the owner and am considering calling him and asking if I can have a surveyor look at the boat.

Look it up in NADA and after talking to the owner show him a copy of what NADA says its worth, almost all the time NADA is way under the true book value of a boat. Could be a good low starting point prior to spending money for a survey ect..
