Default Any mega yacht owners on THT?

I got a subscription to Power and Motor Yacht magazine as a gift and have really been enjoying it. The yachts are simply stunning. This got me to wondering if there are any THT'ers who own a mega yacht.

"The term luxury yacht refers to a very expensive privately owned yacht which is professionally crewed. Also known as a Super Yacht, a luxury yacht may be either a sailing or motor yacht"

So who are the big dogs?

We just stayed at the epic hotel in Miami, had 3 boats there owned by a Saudi prince... Golden oddesey 260' and another just as big to support it. The support ship help 3-4 smaller center consoles and a seaplane! 35,000 a month just to dock them there

They fear alcohol but they can't stay sober with the money.

Only by way of the people my wife works with. Does a 74 Viking count. she used to write the captains check.

Her old boss sold one of his companies in 06 for 675 mil and then went to Seattle and had a new cruiser built 145 ft class I think.
Different world!

I was down in Key West this past Wednesday. After eating at the Conch Republic we were wandering around the docks. Went down one we weren't supposed to but nobody seemed to care. At the end of the dock was the ROSAKA, an 82 Viking Enclosed Bridge. While we were drooling, the owner walked up and said how you guys doing? We said great, just admiring the boat. He asked if we'd like to have a look. We couldn't believe it. He gave us a tour, simply amazing. Very nice guy.

Don't know if it would qualify as a megayacht technically, but it does in my book. He had a 34 SeaVee tied up next to it that they had been out lobstering on. Tough life.

A few years ago we were staying at the Galleon in KW and Rick Hendrick had some toys there. "Wheels" was a 164' yacht, "Reel Wheels" was an 80 Merritt I believe, and he had a couple of very nice Yellowfins, 42's I think. It's good to be rich.

That is the way it is here in Key West. Pretty cool people. Had a guy take me on a dive to check out his KaWaMe jet drives on his 120' yacht on day!!!

There is an ad floating around (can't remember where I've seen it) that describes chartering "Wheels" and lists "Reel Wheels" as the "sportfish tender" to the big boat. An 80' Merritt....as a tender. Even listing a 42' Yellowfin as a tender is out of my level of comprehension.

Let's put it this way guys. You're not going to see Paul Allen (Octopussy) come on here and ask which is the better bilge pump float switch...

The Viking was there the other day when I went for a ride through the harbor. It was definitly different looking.

Hendricks yacht is amazing!! When I was in high school, I worked at Divers Direct and they used to come in there to buy stuff for the boat. The guys that worked on it were nice. They basically were allowed to buy whatever they thought the boat needed. They have one of the best jobs, get paid to travel and play with all the toys.

I would bet that some mega yacht owners are true boater at heart and might even look around sites like this now and then.

I look at all kinds of boat sites. This and a couple go fast sites the most but anything that floats is good.

I crewed on a 65' Fleming last December..big boat, people were taking pictures, UNTIL we got down to Lauderdale. We passed Cakewalk, the 281' American built yacht. Felt like the friggin' tender....

Those huge things are just plain obscene.
