Default Custom tackle station

I would like to custom make a couple of built in tackle boxes on the boat over the winter. I currently have two cut-out's in the sides of the cockpit that have molded plastic inserts ,with no lids . These so called storage compartments are useless to me ,and built in boxes would be a great addition. I have done the measuring and it looks like I will have enough depth to make it work. I was thinking of using starboard for the frame, Plano clear boxes for the drawers and premade utility/inspection hatches for the doors. I'm curious if anyone has done this before or might have some tips/ideas? February will be here soon and should give me enough time to complete the project. Any and all thought's would be appreciated.

Tight lines, John

Take a look at these. I made a standup fiberglass enclosure that takes 3 of the four drawer boxes. They are not cheap, but well made with stainless hardware and starboard doors and outter frames.

We used the ones from CONSUMERMARINE.COM and they look easy to put in and with good measuring they were. We have room for four more and will add them. The caps for the crew hadn't een put on yet so thats why they don't look finished. Any Q's just let me know Here are the pics.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. Unfortunately what I have seen so far that is factory made, has been too small for the existing cut-outs on my boat.

We had a custom tackle station made by Nautical Designs and it turned out awesome. Wish I had some more pictures, but this one will give you a good idea.

We have drawers in the back, lure hangers on the sides, a live bait pitch-well on the top, and chart/teaser storage in the front. We have since lowered out rod holders that are shown in this picture.

Well my brother beat me to posting the picture, but I gave a few more details.

Warning about Nautical Design!!! I purchased a helm seat/tackle staion that was reinforced to mount the helm seat to. It was poorly braced, but the rest was ok and I repaired as it was internal, so it still looked ok and I figured it was just a fluke - stuff happens. I then had them make a custom insulated livewell and oh the HORROR !! Unwraped it and both lids fell off, reinforced lid was like the helm seat, door warped, leaked out of fittings and top of well since the top was just laid on with no seal and a 1/2" gap, holes drilled then not used but painted so I did not see them so now the insulation(open cell) is totally soaked and now noninsulating, and a signed contract for gel coat but I got a painted surface... there is more but I would fill this page! I sent it back and they said they would pay shipping 300.00 but too bad on the paint, as they would not redo it and that the paint was better. They sent it back COD on the return shipping only repairing the seal by fiberglassing the top then cutting the hole for the top which is the only way to build a livewell lol. The rest was not fixed lid included as you cannot screw into end grain plywood and again too bad no refund on shipping.

...Oh yea ...

...They also said I was too picky LOL
