Default best bay boat, period

If money were no object and you could own any bay boat in existance, what would you get? Something taht could handle some shallow marshes (LA) for reds and some rougher stuff for snapper once or twice a year, but mostly used for trout fishing in LA.

I have been told that Yellowfin and Shearwater are tops. I also like Ranger. Looking for something 22-24'

Everyone has their own opinions and there are alot of great bay boats out there. Pick the boat that will fit your needs the best. Sea Trial as many as you can. On that note I will throw in the Canyon Bay 2400.

Loaded question, everyone will have their own opinion. For me I like my Pathfinder, fishes shallow and handles the Mobile Bay chop very well. I have fished on several other bay boat brands and they were fine also. Get the best boat for you, not the boat with the biggest advertising budget.

Black jack and Young are pretty nice, and a hole lot nicer than one of the boats you mentioned.

Unfortunately, I highly doubt you'll see anyone snapper fishing in a Yellowfin 24. At least not in Louisiana. Am I wrong guys? You pose a pretty tough question.....wanna fish the marsh, hit the rigs for specks, and be able to snapper fish....Most boats will do 2 outta 3 all day long. Everyone has an opinion, look for a bay boat with a deep v, large fuel capacity, and a trolling motor for fishing the marsh. Look for something along the lines with what shiphascomein posted.

Go vista the yellowfin factory and speak with kevin barker he will take you for a ride and the boat will sell it's self but soon as you get off the yf go ride on as many other bay boats as you can then you will see the difference. Silver what's the deal did you not get hugged as a child or were you not told you were loved as a kid why are you so quick to down a great product we don't sit here and bash sea vee every time some asks about them (which is hardly ever) people ask about the yf because they either see one or have been told about one They are good boats and you shouldn't be so angry that you wound up with a boat that has no resale value and no customer base that stands up for there product or boats are nice and hold the resale so don't be mad at us because you bought what you really don't like. I bet it eats you up every time a yellowfin passes you getting better mpg and is a lot faster then you

Great info, thanks very much. To help clear things up, I'd mainly be using this rig to fish trout out of Venice/Buras/Empire and sometimes Big Lake, LA. The snapper thing is a once or twice a year trip only if conditions allow.
All else aside, I'm planning on sea trialing as many as I can as this is a big investment

I can line you up a ride on my old boat down in venice next time you are there. The guy that bought my old boat is a charter guide out of Venice and the boat is there

wasn't trying to ruffle any feather Biloxi. Yellowfin is one fine ass fishing machine...I didn't say you couldn't snapper fish out of one, I said I didn't think there would be many people doing it.

No I didn't mean it any way other than people look at me like I'm crazy all the time when I'm passing them up and they can't keep up with me offshore and they have a bigger boat than what I'm in.
