FORUM, I would like your opinions on a new PARKER-DEEP-V 22-25ft for all around fishing & diving in the FLORIDA KEYS!!!!I would like as many (OPINIONS) as I can get!!THANKS I CANT WAIT!!!!!
I'm getting ready to buy a 2520XL... I've been shopping for a year or so.... I think they are great and that's my opinion. Until you take a ride and compare the hull types available in 2520's you won't appreciate what is put in writing about them....... you have to feel the ride differences to compare them and learn what you want or need.
You won't find too many paople that are gonna bash a Parker. They are really good boats. I read some of your other threads, and personally I wouldn't care where I was, I like the pilot house, as it's a good place to duck from rain or bright sun, so long as there is cross ventilation and a fan.
If you are going to be on the open sea, then go with the DV and power it adequately. Max HP on the hull is 500, and the recommended min is 75%. Thus you need at least 375. I'd recommend a pair of 200s.
how is the ride on the parker, compaired to a 24 albemarle, thinking about selling my 83 albe, the parker 25 is on my list of possibilities, tired of a inboared powered boat and all the problems that go with them.......

JOHNNY M and delkins.........I ran a 2300 DVCC Parker for almost two years and loved that boat! It was 23' with a solid/enclosed transom with an F225 on an engine bracket/platform, 8'6" wide, 21 degree "vee". Lots of fishing room for a 23' boat and felt like it was alot bigger than 23'! Rode well, but I felt it needed more weight and it NEEDED tabs, which it did have. Not alot of storage in or under the deck, but like I said, LOTS of fishing room and a very stable, safe boat.
I think you'd like it.
I have a buddy who runs a 25' DVCC w/twin 200's and he loves it too! Talk about space!

The Albe is a great boat, and the Parker is too, but they are two completely different boats. The 9'6" beam on the 2520 Parker and the lack of a motor box makes for a much bigger cockpit than the 8' beam in the 242 and 248 Albe's. The 24* deadrise of the Albe is also deeper than the 21* of the 2520 DVSC.
Apples and Oranges...

I just sold my deep vee Parker for the 24 ft Albemarle. The Albemarle rides much nicer then the Paker underway. This is really true if you are riding offshore or have a long ride somewhere. The Parker will drift better or be better at anchor, less roll. Both boats are built good, but I do think the Albemarle is a tad better built. The main problem I had with my Parker is the ride, going offshore it did beat you up to much. The Parker has a lot of room inside and they are big boats for their size. The Albemarle has a lot less room inside the boat. Both are great boat to have just completely different.

John - I do have the Ox66 250. I am repowering this winter with a 250 Suzuki. I have been very pleaseed with the Yammy and have over 1200 hours without a problem. Performance- i cruise at 22knots at 4300 - 4400 RPM's That is with full fuel (176 gallons) and way too much tackle. Full out she will turn 5400 RPM's at 33knots.
I am very happy with the way she rides. Granted I am not cruising at 30 knots but I can run day in and day out at 22knots. If you want a 30 knot cruise a Parker is not for you. I have had my boat since 1998 and have had zero problems. in fact, I don't have any desire to get a new boat. I am very content and happy with my rig. She does everything I ask of her.
I will agree with "parker" I have the 2510 DV with a 250 on the Transom. I have compaired performance with a guy that has the braket and he reports about the same performance.
I typically cruise at 3900 -4300 rpm 20 - 25 kts. In 4-6 footers I slow to 15-17kts. I never run with a full 170 gallons. I usually keep 60-70 gallons. It's 600lbs of extra wieght I don't need.
The set up could use about another 3-400 lbs in the stern.
Interesting performance numbers. I have the 2520 MVSC with a 225 OX66 and my numbers are identical to Brads. The only difference is that I need to go a bit slower that his DV when the Bay gets sloppy. 22kts for me is a very comfortable cruise speed under normal conditions.
One advantage of the MV... With a set of 24x9 tabs, I can stay on plane at 9 kts if it really gets rough, and that can be an advantage at times. In a normal 2 to 3' chop, I'm generally running between 12 and 15 kts (depending on conditions) quite comfortably. She is no speed demon, but then... I'm rarely in a hurry.

Okay for those who have answered my questions in the past, thank you. I still have not pulled the trigger on my Parker but of course have another question. I think I know all the Pro's and Con's etc. to the different models and this may or not be my last question. 2520 w/ f225 2002 w/ electronics (top line) or 2310 f225 leftover as new (2004) no electronics? They are the same $ and I know the diffences in ride etc. Just looking for a vote. I have been hot on the 2310 as I like the DV and price, but 2' of boat already rigged and ready? Tally up the pro's and cons and tell me what you would do? Thanks, Match

Dale,
I also just sold my 23SE for a 242CC. Parker is a fine boat, but I needed something heavier, and with a deeper V.
Parker: Thank you for the info.. Over by me, it seems to be crappy out quite a bit, so giving up on 30 knot cruise is something I can manage fine. I'm curious what MPG you got with the Yamaha 250 and what you expect from the Suzuki?
Notus23: Which model Parker did you sell for the Albie?
