Okay for those who have answered my questions in the past, thank you. I still have not pulled the trigger on my Parker but of course have another question. I think I know all the Pro's and Con's etc. to the different models and this may or not be my last question. 2520 w/ f225 2002 w/ electronics (top line) or 2310 f225 leftover as new (2004) no electronics? They are the same $ and I know the diffences in ride etc. Just looking for a vote. I have been hot on the 2310 as I like the DV and price, but 2' of boat already rigged and ready? Tally up the pro's and cons and tell me what you would do? Thanks, Match
Depends on where you fish, how long you have to get to the fish, and, your tolerance for pain!
Sold my 2002 23SE last week (actually I traded in) . I really did like my Parker but I bought it to fish the Chesapeake Bay (VA Beach). Now that I moved to S. Florida, I needed a heavier boat, with a deeper V to fish offshore. The inlet here (St Lucie) can be nasty in the winter so I wanted a boat that would cut the waves with authority. As I said, Parker makes a very, very good boat. It's a solid platform. I like Parker so much that I took a long hard look at the other Parker. At the end, the Albermarle 242 won because it fitted my individual needs. While some may find the cockpit limited, it's perfect for me as I mostly fish alone. Sometimes I'll take a friend but I don't like to fish with 2 people onboard. The ride is also much more balanced and smoother as you're closer to the stern than on a Parker. The motor, being essentially in the center of the boat, make the ride easy on your knees and feet. I like the 2.5-2.7 mpg it gets. Also the maintenance is easier and cheaper. I hesitated on having the I/O with jacksaft but since the boat is dry stacked, it's a moot point. Aso Volvo has this neat , easy and effective flushing system. All you have to do is to push and hold a button for 45 sec and you're done...
Anyway, I think that these two boats are made by people who care about their product and it shows...good luck.
January 2005 "Saltwater Sportsman" features an article on fishing for giant Yellowtails off Baja in the Sea of Cortez. To quote, "You'll be running at least 30 miles into the remote waters where strong winds and tidal currrents can make things yery ugly very fast and there's little chance of help or rescue"
There are 2 charter boats, a 25 Parker and a 28 Albemarle
Cape Cod Bay, currently have a 20' CC Hydra Sport Vector, unpleasant in chop because can be wet but the ride is good. Relatively new to the fishing scene and have not ventured too far offshore yet partly because of the vessel and partly because of my unfamiliarity. Sooooo, either boat would be a step in the right direction.
Interesting. I never looked or heard of a Parker till this thread started. I went to there web page and there boats look great. The hull shapes could be twins for the SeaSport I have on order. Very nice boats. How do the prices compare? My 24 foot hard cabin deep vee hull with several nice options on a trailer cost under 70k with the 8.1 inboard.
Johnny, my two cents are that they are good boats. I rode on one for the first time this week. A friend of mine keeps his 2520 in Suwannee, Fla and he took my and my two sons out 12 miles in 2-3' seas. Ride was a little bumpy but that pilot house was great. My sons sat in one seat together (they are 8,5) and Clint and I talked while on the ride out to our fishing destination. It was a cold day to start at 30 degrees but you wouldn't know it in the pilot house. I recommend them based on this but I won't buy one. My next boat is a Cat.
