Default Wilmington NC area help needed

Does anyone know if someone in the Wilmington NC area can shrink wrap a boat for transport? I'm buying a boat and the boat dealer told me that nobody winterizes their boats in that area so shrink wrap isn't usually done. I don't want to give up that quickly. The boat (Grady 20' cuddy) will be transported on a flat bed from NC to San Diego and I don't want it shipped "naked" if possible. It's in "mint" condition and I want to keep it that way...any thoughts?

Thanks in advance....I love this forum!

I can't help you out with a marina, but you may want to post this in the THT REGIONAL GROUPS-> The Carolinas area.

The Grady Factory is located at Greeneville, NC, about 115 miles N. of Wilmington. Not too far out of your way. Their telephone number is 252-752-2111. I would think that if you contact them and tell them what you want to do, they would be glad to give you all of the help you need.

Yeah, try Crocker's first..they are the GW dealer in the area...surely it wasn't them that told you we don't winterize, where they??? There are plenty of marinas that will shrink wrap even if your "dealer" won't...

With Crocker's, Paces Creek and Atlantic Marine, Wrightsville Beach is blessed with three of the finest marine dealerships to be found anywhere.

Congrats on the new boat. It must have been a great deal to buy from so far away.

Crockers will do it. I just threw out their flyer with winterizing pakages on it and shrink wrap was on there....they may have to take it over to their other facility though where they do bottom painting and the like. Ask for Stewart in service, nice guy.

Thanks everybody for your help. I spoke with Stewart at Crockers and he quoted me $275 for the shrink wrap. Regarding the boat, I think I got a very good deal on it pricewise....but the boat is in mint condition according to the surveyor....and if you want a used GW here on the west coast the pickings are slim. There are 620 listings for Grady White boats on boats.com and only 17 are in California. The shipping fee ($2400) is a bit hard to take....but a new boat would have hurt WAY more.

If you have the HIN, email (custserv@gradywhite.com) or call them and ask for the history of the boat.* They can tell you when it was originally in-serviced (important as this is when the warranty started), what dealer initially sold it, what power was initially installed, what options were on the boat, etc...* Good info to have.

If Crockers sold the boat new, they will also have a file on it and may be able to provide some additional info** I bought my 208 used from them last March and was most impressed with them...first class all the way.
