Default choosing controls for dual station Yamaha's

Hi all,
I am getting a tower and dual station controls for my new 30' Cat. It has 300HPDI's (Ouch, I know).
I am trying to decide how to control from upper station, should I go with the Yamaha controls, which will set me back 4-5K, or are there electronic controls that may be in that price range and work better. I have heard difffering stories of how the Yamaha controls work, cable and/or electronic.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe
