Default twin yahama 150 4-stroke fuel economy

Looking for a little help from someone that actually owns a pair of 150 4-stroke yamahas. You know how it is.....the salesman tells you they get great mileage and after dropping big bucks, you end up with crappy mileage. What kind of mileage should I expect when powering my 241 Mako with new 150 4-strokes????

What problems would he have with a 241? The only problems are with the newer Mako's. That 241 is one of the best built Mako's ever. Assuming it was pre 1994 or so. You should see excellent mileage with that Combo. Probably 2.2 MPG or so. I was seeing 1.8-1.9 with my 261 with 200 HPDI's.

Its fine if you have an older boat, Its only the new ones after the tracker marine group took them over (not sure what year) that seem to be having all the problems. Just like so many major brands, whaler, mako, pro-line, the older ones are still around and are good boats. Its the new ones you want to stay away from.

Look at Yamahas bsite and get the perf bulletinf for the Grady 257 with twin F150's. My experience and 2 others with my boat and the handwritten perf bulletin that Yamaha did for my boat are within a couple percent of each other and probably pretty revelant for a 241 Mako also.

Looking at the Yamaha peformance bulletins on Yamaha's website is a good idea. I was running a Grady 232 today with twin F150s. I found my fuel economy at lower speeds (3 mpg @ 1500 rpm) to match the website. I could only get 2.5 mpg at planing speeds where the website said 2.9 mpg. But wind was 15 - 20 mph and I had the full enclosure up, so I'm not surprised at my results.

I have a 245 Edgewater with twin F150's . I get 2.1 to 2.2 with a heavy load. And 2.4 to 2.5 running light. Heavy is four biiiiiig adults, 150gal. fuel, live well, 100lb ice. A lot of cold beer, and a lot of tackle. You well love the F150's.

I'm curious about that 2550s #s. So how about some GPH at rpms at what speed #s. I'm wondering what kind of GPH a flowscan or Yam fuel mgmt. gauge says at around 27-28 knots(30-32mph) and the rpms at the same speed. What pitch and kind of props does that rig turn? Sounds like a super nice boat and something like what I'm contemplating changing to. Is there a spec sheet for the Bluewater with 150 4 strokes? Thanks!

Check this link for twin F150s on a 2470 Pursuit Center Console boat tested at 6500 Lbs load. I have found their numbers to be very accurate.

Thanks for that link! A quik review of that review shows me I gain a hair for giving up a major HP differnce in my idea. I now have twin 225 OX66s on a 25 Contender and at 32mph(28knots) I'm burning about 18 GPH. The spec sheet for the boat with 150s is showing at 32mph they are a hair uder 15GPH, so I wouldn't really get much for all my effort. The big reason is because I am only turning around 3200 rpms with 21 props and according to their data they are turning 4000 with 19s to get the same speed as my gas hogs(not as bad as I thought). I'm sure at the end of the day the boat with 150s has burned much, much less than me though, so I'm still interested a little. I'm just comparing same cruise speeds with different engines since that is what I want to do, except on less fuel. Another couple years to think about it before repower time comes up though, hopefully someone can make something better by then for me!

Grin, check out the link below, it includes more detailed info on the performance I am getting, I still need to do something with the props as I am a little over propped, just haven't decided on anything yet.
