Default Aluminum Welded Boats

hi,
i'm looking to buy a welded aluminum boat. would like to buy from a Pacific Northwest builder. Anyone familiar with Tuff Boats, or Workskiff, or Rozema boat works? Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced builder who builds a tough boat? I'm shopping for a 16' to 20' boat. Would like to keep the price tag for the boat/trailer/engine with steering console under $25k. Please post any and all your thoughts! Thank you!

I bought a Tuff Boat for the Agency (Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game) that I work for a couple years ago. it's a good boat made by a small shop.

Workskiffs are bulletproof but I've been told that they are the wettest boat you ever ride in.

I personally am partial to Hewescraft http://www.hewescraft.com/ I bought a new 22' Searunner in July and we absolutly love it.

Other good NW Aluminum Boats are Safeboat, North River, Almar, Wooldridge, Duckworth,

Follow this link for a list of most of the AL boat makers:

What type (layout) of boat are you looking for?

There was once a aluminium thread on here with a pic of an alu coast guard boat getting air born off the back of a big swell. anyone by any chance know what I'm talking about and possibly the name of the manufacturer ?

The AL 25' and 27' boats are made by Safeboat about $150K per copy. http://www.safeboats.com/

We ordered a 21' open skiff for sea lion research over a year ago. We just got it last month. The USCG H.S. have so many of them ordered that the backlog is tremendous.

Not sure about the one pictured. Safeboat is a brand that builds a lot of boats for the USCG, and they definately are self-righting. The web site has a video of* testing it. www.safeboats.com

The 47' boat above is a self righting boat. The USCG here Juneau has one as well as 3 of the Safeboats. They use the Safeboats for rapid response since they run about 40mph and the 47' get there when it can. The 47' is also the heavy weather boat.

There's just somthing not right about a boat with seatbelts.

thanks for the pic, but no that wasn't the one I remember.

the pic was of a slightly smaller boat, launching clean and straight from the other angle and the weather was clear. Safeboats was probably the name I was looking for though so thanks, unless the coast guard orders from any other manufacturers... anyone know?
