The 25 has a flat floor in the console and a head is TIGHT. The 27 has a drop down in the console and if you get the X-large console, the batteries fit along the aft part behind the drop down and oil tanks on the sides, above the drop down and there is ALOT of room for a head.
There is no finer chair than a BEAN BAG!!! They go anywhere and you can sit anywhere!
Unfortunately, the pics are no longer in the link below. It was a nice-looking custom seating arrangement on a Regulator (that could also likely be put in a Contender). Perhaps you can send Parapapam a PM and ask him to e-mail you pics. Here's the link to his thread:
Thanks for the kind words.* Here is the FS that I added to my Reg 23.* It was a bit expensive, but keeping the wife and kids happy is priceless! BTW, this is on a sistership....mine is powdercoated.
I also had the shop add a removable "pizza slice" in middle of the V-Birth to make it one full "bed."* PM me if you want any more details
That seating looks nice on the Reg above. Is it removable or does it fold down? If it does, that is an excellent compromise from transitioning between cruiser and stricktly fishing. Nice!
Here is was my thought for forward seating on my Contender....not the tuna, but the coffin box behind :
Are those forward seats useable while on the cruise? I would think it to rough to ride in the bow in all except the flattest of seas. For sure the seats are useful at rest.
The seats don't fold down.* I suppose that it could be "engineered" to do so.* I would not pay for it though.* Just the way I use the boat....* I don't fight a lot of fish from the front of the boat and I can cast eels just fine with the seats as they are.* You could remove them since they are just screwed together, but transporting them and getting them re-installed would be a PITA... Maybe if I had easier access to those nice offshore fishing grounds in the Carolinas I might chase bigger fish from the bow...
One*nice feature is*that you still get full access to the standard storage compartments in the hull...
SeaJay, my daughter prefers to*ride up in the bow in all sea conditions.* I think there are two reasons.* The first is a Reg gives a great ride.* The second is that she is young and flexable...My sons sit behind me on the leaning post when things get rough and my wife sit on the seat in front of the console.* I would sit up on those bow seats in waves up to about 2 feet...then my instincts and 40 year old bones bring me back to the console....I am getting older and stiffer.* But you are correct, we all grab some naps up there while at rest.
The only time you are going to sit in the forward area is at the dock, sipping a few cold ones, and bottom fishing on a flat sea.....most of the time you will be standing with a death grip on something solid....it's the truth, Mick
Its my understanding that Contender is going to start offering forward seating on several of their models. You might wait a bit and see what they offer.
Bean bags are my favorite. I also use a double wide deck cahor when my wife comes aboard.
