Sandusky, OH - Cedar Point In Water Boat Show this weekend
FYI for anyone in the Great Lakes area...
Forecast for Ohio waters of Erie is for 4-6 foot waves on Saturday. The bouy North of Vermillion had 6.9 feet earlier today and wind out of the Northeast.
Just thought I'd post a link to the Cedar Point In Water Boat Show that is running through Sunday. This is the largest in water boat show in the country located on freshwater. I'm planning on spending most of the day there on Saturday and hopefully fishing on Sunday if the wind backs down. Also FYI the Ohio Sea Grant will have an information booth setup on Sunday (maybe sat too not sure.)

I'll be there with the family this weekend. Leaving early Sat. morning. Staying at Great Bear Lodge. Flooding like crazy here in Pittsburgh! Have been going to this show for almost 20 yrs. in a row. Will be dining at Bay Shore Inn Sat. night

Wish I could make it but I got a son playing a fall baseball game tomorrow and my other son playing midget football game on Sunday.
Wondering if any of you that are heading to the show could do me a favor and let me know what dealerships are there that sell saltwater fishing boats. I'm in the market for a 20 to 22ft walkaround. I know Fox Chapel marine in Port Clinton seals Proline. I think Sima marine sells Key West. Beaver Park marina sells Grady White, but a new Grady is out of my price range. I'm in the Pittsburgh PA area and there isn't much locally in the way of saltwater boats down this way. Wellcraft at P&L and Trophy at Millers. That's it.

Forgot to mention Advanced Marine in Marion, Oh about 1 hr. north of Columbus also sells Seaswirl. That is where I got mine...these guys are class acts. Ask for Keith Kelly. They did have a sweet deal on a new 2003 leftover 23' with hardtop.
RE: Sandusky, OH - Cedar Point In Water Boat Show this weekend
Thanks Kelly. That's exactly the kind of info I'm looking for. As a matter of fact, I was just out on Advanced Marine Website a few minutes ago. Never checked out a Seaswirl in person, but they sure look nice from the pictures I have seen. I'm currently going through a list of dealerships I got at http://www.lakeerieboating.com/centraldealers.htm.
That 23 footer is a little heavier than what I'm looking for. I'm looking for an outboard powered walkaround that weighs (dry and with motor) roughly 3,500 lbs. The Seaswirl 2101 WA O/B pretty much meets my specs. I will be primarily using the boat in central basin of Lake Erie.

Brad1... I'm actually in White Oak, down rt48. Have a Proline 20 DC. If you ever want to look at it instead of going to Ohio to the dealer, you are Welcome.

The wife and I were going to play hooky on Friday and go but all the rain from Ivan got us...almost 8 inches here....Sat. and Sun. were cleanup days.....
The main reason....I was talking to them a couple months ago about buying the 21' Contender they have leftover from last year. Told him I would be ready to buy something end of August. Then I get an email from them about that time and I told him I was getting ready to buy a Seaswirl WA. This totally ticked off him and I could tell by the tone of his response that it did. He also listed several reasons as why the boat I was getting ready to purchase was a total piece of - Sorry, I will learn to watch my language -. And was very rude about also. You know...no one wants to hear that right before they purchased a new boat even if it is a piece of - Sorry, I will learn to watch my language -. But hey....there are no complaints here about seaswirl except for Paul (I think he would complain about anything) nor the research I did in the Nothwest. These guys has just put a bad taste in my mouth from this email conversation we had and the couple times we stopped there last year. The email really did it...will prevent any future purchase I am sure and I will "NOT" hesitate to tell someone else about it. Some people/dealers just don't get it.

Wow, I'm sorry you had a problem. I am not affiliated with the people at South Shore at all. Or any other dealer. I am only a boat consumer. I did buy one used boat from South Shore, but not the last one.
That really doesn't sound like them. I have always dealt with the owner, Tom Mack and never had anything but a pleasant experience. In fact, Tom is one of the few people in the business that did everything he said he would, every time. I know he has several other people working for him. You should contact Tom directly and let him know what happened if you are so upset. I'm sure he wouldn't let it happen again.
Tom and the people at South Shore have an excellent reputation. I am sure every deal is not perfect every time, but they have "made it good" in every instance I ever heard of. The Albi guy also has a good long term reputation. Lakeside is a big dealership, but if you deal with the right people, you also will be happy. Not that the others are bad, but these few do stand out IMHO in Lake Erie in the long run.
RE: Sandusky, OH - Cedar Point In Water Boat Show this weekend
That is the problem...it was Tom. And this wasn't even to the dealing part yet which he may have done exactly what he said. BUT...to me...you just don't do the things he did for possible future deals. I would have expected and would have said myself something like..."Really...glad you found a boat and if you have any questions, concerns, trading, or buying in the future, please feel free to let me know." Not basically your boat pick is a piece of crap and don't understand why you decided to buy that. "You could have spent your money better!!" was one of his exact comments.
I am not upset...I got my boat and will know where not to go in the future.

Kelly Schmit, I think you'd complain too if you had a 4 foot crack down to the wood on the transom of your boat. I purchased the boat new in 2000 and have done nothing but baby the boat. I didn't appreciate that comment. The guys at South Shore Marine did see the crack-----------ask them how it looked. 3K to fix. I don't blame them for freaking out when you said you were interested in a Seaswirl..........if you'd seen the crack you would too.
