Default Yamaha throttle handle slip

My new 2005 dual handle throttle has an annoying tendency to slowly work its way back. Mainly I speak of the left handle. This means that after accelerating and letting go of the handles I watch the left throttle slowly drift back, resulting in that engine running considerably slower than the other 3-400 RPM after a minute or so.

How do I tighten or resolve this? I looked under that rubber plug at the base of the lever and saw a post flanked by two screws, both of which were fully tight.

Would hate to go back to the dealer for something so seemingly minor.

Thanks,

Ben

Remove the 4 phillip head screws at the base take the cover off and theres 2 set screw adjusters on the rear side a few turns of the adjuster screw should do it.. kinda trial and error untill you get it where you like it...

Ben,

If you have the brand new style controls(2005) you won't have to remove the cover. They added those holes so the cover does not have to come off anymore.

When you remove the rubber plug you will see two phillips head screws that are tight. A little further back are the two slotted head screws that are your friction adjustment.

Got it. When it stops pouring I'll get to my baby and fix her right up!

Thanks
