I doubt anyone can tell any difference in fuel performance in the first 6 months at best.

Most cars will burn 3 year old gas like it was bought yesterday. My portable generator just went through 3 gallons of gas from 2005 without a hiccup.

Then again, I live in an ethanol-free zone.

You obviously did not read the OP's question, which was: "Does Stabil really help?"

So why are you posting, as what you said has nothing to do with this thread, and is of no help to anyone?

regarding "old" fuel.........

Winters are long with wide temperature swings in RI. Those conditions are terrible for storing fuel at marinas. It's a known fact marinas do not top off in-ground fuel tanks in the fall and they certainly do not treat fuel!

With that said, do you realize marinas put out bids for fuel? Come December if the fuel is low $ they will top off tanks or maybe come Memorial day they will top them off.

for the record....... the only gas available at marinas is 10% ethanol.

I just ran 63 miles offshore with 3 month old e10 during the highest humidity months in one of the highest humidity regions in the country.
I use nothing.

That is not true. Many marinas have non- ethanol fuel.

Simmer down, Bright Light, you'll get ulcers if you take umbrage with everyone that posts experiences that aren't germane. But since you brought it up, the relevance of your post to the thread would be ...

It's too cheap not to risk....I use the Yamaha Ring free with added fuel treatment. No problems.
