Default Lake Champlain vacation

Well its time for the vacation to Lake Champlain. Plan on dropping in around Burlington.Plan on exploring the whole lake or at least as much of it as I can get in in four days. Where is a good place to drop in and park for a few days. Any places I should check out ,avoid. Where is the cheap fuel? good food. Any different laws I should know about (than New Hampshire). Oh ya can you snooze on the hook overnight in VT?
Just checked the forcast.. ..bummer!!!!! guess I need to bring the rain gear Scott

Well with four days you will see very little of the lake since it is huge. The laws are VERY strick on holding tank system and grey water also must be captured. Without an inspection sticker you will in all probabilty be stopped by police. Sleeping overnight is not a problem, northern regions are better for that. Not sure the size boat you are going in, but around mid day the wind kicks up coming down the valley and can get real choppy, best do your cruising in the AM before it picks up. Enjoy!

You should probably check out Burton Island State Park http://www.vtstateparks.com/htm/burton.cfm In the
northern half of the lake. Also can launch from Ladd's Landing on Grand Isle. Lousy launch ramp but great location
for exploring. Also the Naked Turtle in Plattsburgh NY is sometimes an exciting location.

Be sure to visit Essex NY as well. Essex was recently rated the 3rd best port (of 13) on the east coast to visit by Sounding Magazine. Antique boat show is this weekend. Also visit Westport for the Heritage Festival this weekend. Just watch out for traffic with the big Phish show in Northern Vermont. Burlington of course is a great place to start and finish the trip. Visit Echo on the waterfront to learn more about the Lake. Hope to see you out there.
