Default Avenger Boats

Does anyone have any info on the older Avenger 24? I know the molds were purchased by a new builder, but how were the older boats built in the early 2000's. Obviously I would like to purchase a new but the new ones are far beyond my budget and I would like to find a good used one. How do they handle off shore and and what is a realistic draft #. I am looking for a family friendly boat with decent gunnel heights with light offshore and inshore capability, with a budget at 35-40k. I know this topic has been beat to death, but Im having difficulty find any real world info on the older avengers. Thanks in advance.

Bumpski. Would like to know the low down on the 24 and 25 avengers. What years were they made by marauder, dorado and who makes them now? They look like killer boats and exactly what I want.

Not sure of the exact years but you can't buy a better built boat. The original 24 was a more guide friendly platform no bs etc. The only reason the molds were sold was to fund the 25 project that marauder also builds. Beware on buying a northend or threadfin(same as original 24) they were/are not built by the original builder.

Marauder has brought back the 24 with a few changes and a motor ready boat can be purchased in the low 30's, hard to beat for what you are getting. I personally am a big fan of small boat builders for the simple fact that the people building them take more pride in what they are doing vs. big production company's that have a bunch of guys makin their $10.00 an hour and callin it a day etc.

If you find one in good shape pull the trigger, you won't regret it.

There is a northend on Boattrader. Whats the deal with them and Threadfin? Just not built as well as Marauder?

Well I know of a few NorthEnd's with Major delam problems, and I looked at another that just didn't feel right(flimsy light hatched etc.)

As far as the Threadfin I haven't seen one in person yet but the guy building them helped build the originals. They are probably ok but i'm not sure.

The new 24 built by Marauder there is no guess on quality or craftsmanship(as with the old built under Jerry's supervision) it is a slick ride that is built like a tank. When I get through school I will be buying one.

For the money for a brand new boat with the capabilities/fit and finish there is almost no compromise.

I have a 25 it was about hull # 10 that Jerry built, was looking to get a new 24 Avenger but Jerry told me his not building anymore boats. In over 4 years of use the only thing that failed was my bait well pump.

I ended up picking up a used Avenger 24. Great boat, from inshore to 30 miles offshore.... No complaints.

Are the Northend boats and Threadfin both the same mold as the Avenger 24? obviously I would like to look into both of these boats since they are simular to what I have been looking at. Sounds like northend is having some issues with theres? Do you have any more information on that? Also who would be good to talk to about the threadfin? They look pretty badass!

I just had Marauder Marine build a 24 Avenger hull for me back in April. Jerry sent me detailed pics as they built it. The boat is amazing. I picked the hull up on 7-28 and just finished the boat completely so I’ll try to post some pics soon.

I did a build thread in 2007 but not sure if it was posted on here or FS all old threads are lost on FS. Here is the deal Jerry owner of Marauder Marine / Avenger is a boat builder designer he built a hull that Young now has think it is a 20 ft. Jerry also did the the 24 that Northend & now Threadfin have that old mold was used up so Jerry built the 25 Avenger hull some one, forgot who, took the old mold & started building boats under new names. Jerry was offered a deal with Dorado boats he was working with Dorado for about a year doing the 25 Avenger / Dorado Jerry then went back building boats in his old shop & made the new 24 Avenger. The 24 Avenger is not being built because of some person that claims he helped Jerry with the design or something not me although I gave Jerry much input. Right now Jerry is not building any boats what a shame.

The Treadfin is the old avenger mold. Bobby seems to be a good guy and builds a solid boat. I have talked to him alot about the boat. I spoke with a guide about two weeks ago at a tourney I was fishing. He had nothing but good things to say how well the boat has performed. We had a shotgun start in some crappy weather and he hung with the lake and bays, he had a 300 on his, but he looked alot more comfortable doing 60 in the slop. We were doing about 45 and getting the crap kicked out of us.(towered Shearwater)

This sounds like how the venture came about with Dorado & Avenger. Some Years back a tournament was held in some rough stuff Chris Molinare or someone that worked for Jerry took a group out in the Avenger others went in Dorado, Gause & Shaffers etc. all fished in the same areas & came back together. When they returned all guys in the Avenger asked those in the Dorados & other boats why they went swimming ?

I did contact threadfin which I am now awaiting the quote! Wish there were some ppl that had good things to say about them but I have not had any luck on reviews of the TF24

I would be wary about the threadfin, not sure what's going on over there but I do know they have been built by multiple builders. Why he can't lock down a good crew would bother me.

I know someone from the Tampa area had one of the original 24 Avengers, sold it & moved up into a 27 Contender. He posted he wished he kept the Avenger, said the rides were about the same but fuel burn was doubled. He then sold the Contender & built a north end or thread fin, he would have some great input on the build quality.
