hi all....any thoughts on these hulls????......24 diesel/or bigger.....pre 1990.....................thanks................... .jim...........................arctekmarine....... ..
Just starting to look at them....know nothing about them yet but they sure have nice lines and a nice looking hull. I'm interested in hearing responses to your question as well. I've heard they have a good rep. In my mind they had the nicest sportfisherman in the 30-33' class at the NY Boat show last winter...
I have a new 2004 32 topaz, and love it. I blow by most other boats in any conditions. Very similar to the one at the boat show but i put 450 cats in her and cruise at 33. Top notch, threw and threw and the guys that build them are great..
I have the 24, the original style. Topaz is building another 24 now, which I have been told is the Silverhawk mold.
My 24 is an awesome rough water boat. The 100 gallons with the diesel give it about 350 mile range.
What exactly do you want to know. There is a big difference between the 28 and 29 if looking at that size. The 32 Hull is still the same as always (top and interior has been updated). The 40 is the same as the old 39 too.
Which model are you interested in specifically??

Sweet Looking boat abobis !!!! My brother just bought a 29 but I have not yet taken a ride on it, nice big cockpit and laid out really nice, only one problem (for me anyway)- twin gas
We have a 29 topaz and have brutalized it offshore in some rough conditions for years. It raises fish and as far as we can tell shes as rock solid as they come. Sure would like the 32 but my wife is more interested in foolish things like our mortgage payment! Some day--jg
I have a gas engine in mine- in the future I would love to put a diesel in it, or maybe one of those new "Captians Choice" Crusaders. I am quite happy with the boat. I used to run charters out of Montauk with hull #0 of the '36 series. Great boat, fished ANY weather and did many canyon trips with it. If you need any info on the 24 or 36, I know them pretty well.

Rkid,
From what I have been told on the 28/29, the 29 is obviously a foot longer, but also has more deadrise. The 28's have somewhat of a reputation for pounding some, while the 29's do not.
seajay,
question for you. I have a daughter in college, and i was wondering if you were aware from personal experience or hear say, that upon graduation and the successful achivevment of employment: IS THERE A PAYBACK? if so the 32 may come sooner than later--jim
