Default New Sled - Nokaoi 26' - Jackplate question

Picked this up a few weeks ago. 1997 26' Nokaoi, 200 mercury and 9.9 mariner kicker. I was nervous due to not very much info on the brand, etc. but after a very positive survey, motor checked out with as new compression and a very impressive sea trial (small craft advisory out of channel islands harbor) I'm ready to roll. I've been looking for something extremely simple - commercial style with a small cuddy and hardtop for about 2-3 years and this fit. 2 Questions:

Has anyone had experience with these boats?

It has a paralift jackplate - original equipment for some reason. Once in a while it will lower but not raise - I haven't been able to find much info on this system. Is there a way to manually raise the jackplate? Also anyone have any experience in troubleshooting these?

Thanks for any help and looking forward to getting it dialed in over the next few weeks.

Also would appreciate any input on potential issues with the 97 merc 200 blackmax. I did a search and couldn't find much.

Thanks

Nice looking boat, never seen one here on the starboard coast. Best of luck!

Not sure on your type of jackplate, but make sure it is greased well. Had similar problem before and this fixed it.

I found one loose power connection which seemed to help somewhat - its less intermittent now but still not 100%. I'll check the grease fittings and also the fluid level.

Put about 10 hrs on the motor over the weekend - pretty sweet so far. Between jack plate, trim tabs and motor trim there's a lot of variables to play with.

Topped off the fluid level and greased all the fittings - jackplate seems to work great now. One more question - should the plate be lifted all the way up with the retainer latch engaged for trailering?

Nice rig with deeep V! They are very rare. NoKaOi means "the best" in Hawaiian

Merc blackmax sips fuel, and lasts forever, you should be fine.

Thanks! The blackmax runs a lot better (quieter and smoother) than I expected - we'll see about the fuel sipping.
