Default sigh..... and now the other one, strbd side 97' 175 Johnson overheating

hello again gents,

after trouble with surging revs on port side, now the starboard engine is giving me stress.

If running for anything over a minute at about 4800 she will start to shake and shudder, loose power and the red 'hot' light will turn on. I bring her back to about 2000 for a while untill the light goes out and she stops shaking, then i can come up to about 3500- 4000 without too much problem.
The pisser is streaming strong.

any ideas?

again and as always many thanks for any advise.

sounds like the motor is going into the s.l.o.w mode-is the engine overheating? have you checked/changed the thermostats? when was the water pumps changed?

I was getting an overheat alarm on my '89 225 Johnson when running at anything beyond a low cruising speed for very long. I have a fresh water pump, & like yours, my motor was peeing just fine. New thermostats seem to have solved the problem.
