Default Tackle Storage????

What do you guys with bay boats do for tackle storage. My boat has plenty of storage compartments, but of course they all get a little wet. Not to mention its a little inconvienient having all your tackle stowed away. What type of boxes/bags do you guys use to keep your stuff dry and rust free. Most of my tackle is stored in Plano 3700 boxes, but its a pain taking them in and out of the boat all the time. I was thinking of getting some small marine grade ice chest to store them in while in the boat. This would keep them dry especially when washing the deck while on the water. Any other tips or ideas???

I usually just take out the Plano boxes I need for that particular trip and put them under a seat but am thinking about one of the smaller square Icey-Tek coolers that I can sit on while running my little motor when flounder fishing. I have tried some other ice chests but always wound up with water in them when it rained. I have used bags and large tackle boxes but can't sit on them very well and floor space is at a premium in my bay boat.

There are exact replacemets for the Plano boxes available with O-ring seals.
I have left these on my boat for extended periods without problems....but...the tackle has to be dry before you store it.
I use the tackle holder and tackle box from Fin Addict Marine in North Carolina. http://www.finaddictmarine.com/
They also have the O-ring sealed plano type boxes.

You could make one or several of these up:

Take a piece of Sunbrella or light canvas approx. 1' x 2' and sew on a layer of synthetic wool. Next sew on two lengths of shoe laces 6" down on either edge (when you roll up the tote these laces will be used to tie the roll up). Then add several snap domes across the top of the tote; drill and rivet the mating snap domes on any convenient appropriately sized flat surface to hang the lure apron from. The hooks just hook onto the synthetic wool. That or:

Take the same sized Sunbrella or light weight canvas and sew on individual pockets of clear plastic (same plastic used for boat top zip in windows), laces and several snap domes.

Either setup can have either a sunbrella or clear plastic flap with velcro edges for closure (you have the flap folded over to the backside when in use. Then when you are done you just remove the tote, flip over the flap and velcro, roll it up and you are off and running. With having several of these made up you can take what you need for what fish you are fishing for or area.

Default RE: Tackle Storage????

I bought the tray holder system tht holds 4 large plano traysfor about $130 from Cabellas and installed it in my console above my feet.1 tray holds all my hooks and swivels, 1 tray holds my meduim rapalas and hoochies, one all my iron jigs, and the last holds 8 12" tuna plugs.
I then bought 7 clear plastic shoe boxes (Walmart, Home Depot-Sterilite brand) with lock down stackable lids, and put them in my electronics box to one side of the radio. I bought about 30 1 gallon zip lock freezer bags and placed the lures and hooks in each clear bag to keep them seperate, untangled, completly dry, and visible inside the shoe boxes.1 box is for planers, trolling sinkers and birds, 1 for hoochy daisy chains, 1 for leader material, 1 for tied leaders and bait rigging stuff, and 2 for are for the big marlin lures. All of this stuff stays on the boat.
I then put a 54 quart ice chest under the leaning post for warm sandwiches, 2 GPS's, fish finder, hand pliers, rod belts, knives, etc that all fit with room to spare and I leave the drain plug open.
This dry ice box, the ice chest with my fillets, and the rods are the only things that come off the boat in the afternoon, and are also quick to load in the morning.
