Default Pics of Conquest white bottom project.

My 23' Boston Whaler Conquest had layers of flaking antifouling that was not preped properly. I scraped and scraped for hours to remove it. Above the water line it was stuck on and I used Interlux paint striper. All that was left was the black staining.

I sanded and sanded. 80 grit on a 6" Rigid random orbit. Cleaned and taped.

These are of the finished product. I'm very happy with the outcome and would recommend Interlux high performance. The colour match was better than I expected too.

Thanks guys, I could not have done it without everyone on THT! I also have replaced the scuppers, added a kicker bracket and T8 Yamaha and replaced the rollers with double bunks on the trailer.

Really nice job, nice boat too, It's impressive how much boat Whaler packed into the Conquest 23. I'm kinda curious why the roller to bunk switch?

It took along time to scrape the bottom and my shoulder was killing me so I took a two day break from scraping and replaced the bunks. I replaced the bunks at home but took the boat to a boat yard for the sanding and painting.

Rollers are very hard on the hull. BW should not be on rollers because they are foam filled. Where I fish the road is very rough and winding so the bunks and low profile will help.

what white bottom paint did you use? I have a similar project going and would love to get the same results.

Interlux high performance epoxy.

It does not have any antifouling qualities. It is for trailered or dry stored boats. It is hard and smooth for best fuel economy and speed.

Looks very nice. I'm sorry if this was explained on another thread but how did you apply the paint? I've heard to put it on with a roller then use a brush to finisih it?

I had actually planned on doing this with my boat, spent hours sanding off the old crap, then moved before I could do the painting. I left my boat behind for sale, and had the yard just do a regular bottom paint. After almost 3 years I brought it across country and have it again. I wish I would have had the chance to finish it like yours.

Don't say sorry, everybody does it a little different. I picked out the finest roller I could find for the first two coats and for the last two coats I used a very fine (foam) finishing roller that was only 4" long. I took my time to make sure I got good coverage and no runs. I think from what I have read the brush method is the finest finish but might take an expert touch. It would most likely be above the water line too.
