25'-27' Contender Owners, How far do you fish offshore?

I'm considering upgrading to a used, 25' Contender, vintage 97-01. I'm familiar with the line and know they make a quality boat... What are your experiences being a Contender owner? How far do you fish offshore?... I fish offshore of Maryland and a canyon run is 70-80 miles offshore. What fuel numbers would I see with twin 200's or 150's.(I know thats a broad question, just looking for approx.) Is a porta-pottie standard on the 25? Thanks.

you won't have any probs that far offshore. 2mpg w/efi motors.

You can put a porta potty on any of them, but the 27 is the smallest with a drop down in the console. With a 25 the potty will most likely be on top of the batteries or oil tank and the door probably won't shut. Figure 2mpg for the 25 with efi or a little better (2.2ish) with HPDI's and the 27 is 1.7ish with EFI and 2.0ish with HPDI's. As far as Offshore a 23 contender should be able to go 100miles offshore with little or no problem. make sure you are properly equipped safety wise, file a float plan, keep in touch with someone and have fun.

27 Contender here. I fished twice that far offshore with efi's and now I have repowered with four strokes that increase my range 25-30%.

I have a 25 (that I'm selling) and would feel completely comfortable anywhere within its safe fuel range which, for my boat is approx. 300 miles. The biggest reasons I would be comfortable, even in big seas are:

-The boat is remarkably stable in the sh!t
-The bow is light and rarely stuffs
-The scupper outlets are in behind the step/cavity so there's actually a vaccuum formed when the boat moves. They are the best I've seen and, with any forward speed, actually suck water off of the deck.
