Default Sea Hunt 207LE Question

Is the 150HP motor on this boat going to be enough to get a 200lb slalom-skier/wake-boarder out of the water (it will have trim tabs). Kevin at Towne Marine is confident that it will be. He told me the Yamaha puts out about 165HP at the prop.

Thoughts?

Frank

I would think that a 150 should be good a match for that boat based on the size. Granted, I'm a "more is better" guy... but still, 150 on a 20' boat should be great.

You can confirm the 165/150 thing with Yamaha - I don't know anything about that. I know the 225 is not rated for 225 (lower), and the 250 is pretty "true".

I can tell you that Kevin is a stand-up guy... enjoy!

Pete

Anyone else have any valuable thoughts? Does this motor really output 165HP at the prop?

I don't know if that is really true or not, but I can say that I had a 150 HPDI on my similar sized McKee Craft 196 and that was plenty of power for all types of water sports.

The HPDI is a V6 2-stroke versus the 4-cylinder F150 but total displacement is about the same.

I have a SEA PRO 206 DC which is a close set up to what you have as far as weight and design. I have an F225 and love it. The F150 is a great motor, but I can run at lower RPM and I enjoy the extra v6 power. The boat will do 55mph if I open it up. I hate running WOT, but the extra power is nice if you need it.
