www.classicseacraft.com my friend. although not a potter built, fon't fret, you will find plenty of diseased like minded individuals . Make sure those stringers get extended back to the transom and tabbed! if i were you, raise the floor a couple inches, consider a non plywood transom core, although plywood will last another 20. get a hermco glass bracket and enclose the transom. let the sickness begin.

What does adding a bracket and hanging a 300 way back there do to the waterline aft?....is that why you suggest raising the deck so the scuppers are above the waterline?....how about raising the transom and using a 30 inch shaft?....

The hermco bracket is designed for the 23 and has enough flotation to keep you self bailing.YOu can go with a 30 inch transom but the bracket is ideal imho It will also greatly increase your cockpit room as well. Josh wellfleet is giving the op some good advice, come see over at classicseacraft.com

Looks like a very committed project and you are off to a good start. I third the idea of the Hermco glass engine bracket, that will give you more floatation (foam filled) and more cockpit area for fishing.

-Good Luck

I sold them, as well as everything else besides the shell and console. I am putting a bracket on it and raising the livewell up into the transom. Its been raining for the past few days so work has stopped, maybe will clear up this weekend or by Monday.
