Default Need some input on 1992 Thompson Sport Fisherman

Looking for any information, pros and cons on a 1992 Thompson Sport Fisherman. 26ft., 10ft. beam, mercruiser 350 V8 engine.
If you are knowledgeable about this boat in any way, engine etc... I would really appreciate any help.

Thanks!

I have a 1989 Thompson 240 Fisherman w/ hard top. It has a small V8 engine with a Mercruiser I/O. This is the only Thompson I have ever owned.

I would say quality is average at best as this is basically an entry level boat. My 24' rides pretty rough but with the tabs all the way down the ride improves a lot. It is a wet boat but with the hard top it doesn't really matter.

Thompson's are known for stringer and transom rot. I think I've got a little bit of rot in my transom but it isn't bad yet. Stringers appear to be fine.

You know that the original Thompson is out of business but they have recently been reopened and building boats. The boats are very deep boats and mine is extremely comfortable to fish out of. They also make the 24' with a V6 I/O which I would think would be underpowered. Your 26' w/ a single 350 I suspect would be underpowered.

Having said all of this I really like the boat. I use it as a good ol fishing boat. I don't clean it and I don't cover it. I basically shut it off and walk away. The boat is pretty economical to run, especially compared to my 30' Scarab Sport w/ twin 225 outboards.

If you have any specific questions please let me know.

it means when there is chop, the spray comes onto the boat....hence the wet part...
